Description

Beautiful village location, complete with wood-burning stove, this holiday cottage is close to Padstow, Port Isaac and Tintagel, mythical home of King Arthur.

This detached holiday cottage sits proudly at the head of one of the most beautiful villages on the edge of Bodmin Moor. With its woodburner and galleried bedroom, the cottage is well furnished and has a small sitting out area to the front. Just yards away is the village pub which was a CAMRA pub of the year winner. Close by is the Camel Trail, a cycle and walking trail that runs along a disused railway track through to the market town of Wadebridge and alongside the Camel Estuary to Padstow. Close by are the fishing villages of Padstow, Port Isaac, made famous by the TV series Doc Martin, and Tintagel which is the mythical home of King Arthur. Also within easy reach is the world famous Eden Project. Shop 200 yards, pub 20 yards.

Ground floor: Living room. Kitchen/dining room. Shower room with toilet. Spiral staircase. 1 double (5ft) galleried bedroom with beams.

Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. CD. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Fridge/freezer. Small sitting-out area with furniture. On road parking. No smoking.

Booked in for a valentines retreat and could have not picked a better location to get away from the hustle and bustle. The local shop is well stocked, the locals are very welcoming, food at the pub was great although it wasn't until the next morning I realised I must have been overcharged between 10 and 20 pounds. The cottage has everything you need. Once you get the fire going it gets cosy and snug. The stairs can be a bit tricky if you are not good on your feet. We would definitely return

This was our fifth stay at this venue, which implies rather obviously that we enjoy the 'Cottage on the Green' and its location. The occasion is the epitomy of Britishness with a village green, splendid pub, historic church and some period buildings, set on the edge of Bodmin Moor but above the pretty valley of the River Camel. All major items of equipment are available and the cottage is comfortable and above all else clean. There is a fine bow window with pleasant views to the front and a rear kitchen window overlooking the green. The only downside is a small shower, very steep circular staircase to the upper level bedroom and the cottage is cold. This can be overcome by some extent to small electric radiators and a log burning fire, which once alight keeps the cottage acceptably warm. To offer any other downside comments would be pedantic. Overall the cottage is recommended.

Love staying here because the pub's so good and locals friendly. Only snag is the everlasting roadworks on the A30 (2 yrs now) mean all traffic is diverted along a single-track road and much time is spent reversing to a passing place. Most phone networks have no signal in the village and the cottage has no wi-fi, so this is a really peaceful retreat.

This is a lovely cottage in a good location to explore North Cornwall and is bigger than it looks on the photographs. After two idyllic weeks here, we didn't want to leave. It's a slight shame the property doesn't have Wi-Fi as it's something you come to expect these days but I guess it's difficult to get in rural locations like this. Overall, it's a super place to stay and we had a great holiday here.
