Within the grounds of Grade II listed Upper Vatch Mill, The Cottage offers perfect accommodation for 2 guests, close to Stroud.

This detached, period Cotswold stone holiday cottage enjoys a peaceful and picturesque location within the grounds of the owners’ Grade II listed Upper Vatch Mill. The tranquil sound of the Slad brook and weir are within earshot. The Cotswold village of Slad, immortalised by the author Laurie Lee, is scattered along the slope of this narrow valley, captured in the filming of Lee’s ‘Cider with Rosie’ (1998). An ideal location for walkers, there are many footpaths, while the Cotswold Way is within a few minutes’ drive. Bohemian Stroud is one and a half miles away, and has an array of independent shops. The surrounding Golden Valleys are an attractive location from which to explore the western Cotswolds. Cheltenham, Bath and Cirencester are within easy reach. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Large living room. Large beamed dining room. Galley-style kitchen. First floor: Study. Double bedroom with 6ft bed. Shower room with toilet.

The Cottage was a really lovely place for us to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and the owners made sure they were easily on hand if we needed them. The patio area for breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening was wonderful. Any shops are a couple of miles and the nearest pub a 20 minute uphill walk, happily downhill after a drink and the views make that walk well worth it. Plenty of walking locally and Swift Hill behind the cottage is well worth the climb with spectacular views from the top. Overall a really lovely stay and we would highly recommend a week here. Thank you to the owners.

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. Cleanest cottage we've ever been to. Peter and Stephanie are lovely people with a generous nature who couldn't in our opinion, try harder to ensure you have a lovely holiday. There were extras that we certainly didn't expect, milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, wine, shortbread biscuits, Dish washer tablets, kitchen towel and fresh flowers. we had taken most of these things with us We saw the deer, not as we anticipated early in the morning, but between 10.00 and 11.00am. We wouldn't hesitate in returning to this lovely location. This kind of service doesn't come with out a lot of hard work. Thank you Peter and Stephanie.

Impressive property and fitted out to very high standard. Ideally located for visiting in and around The Cotswolds. Owners , who lived close by, were very hospitable and helpful. Highly recommended.

Lovely cottage in a quiet, secluded spot. Beautifully peaceful, which was exactly what we wanted. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. The Slad Valley is a beautiful area, lovely for walks (we hardly saw anyone when walking), and there are plenty of interesting places to visit. Stroud is nearby with all amenities.
