Description

In a brilliant location for exploring, there are plenty of nearby attractions ranging from Glastonbury to the Fleet Air Museum.

This former hayloft barn dates back to the 17th century, is attached to the owners’ farmhouse, and is conveniently situated just off the A39, approximately 2 miles from the centre of Glastonbury. This comfortable holiday cottage has been restored and renovated to a good standard, keeping much of its original charm and character with exposed stone walls and a flagstone floor in the kitchen. The pretty garden has a river running just behind the hedge, and a national cycle path and footpath pass through the grounds. There are many interesting attractions and places to visit nearby including Glastonbury which is well known for its King Arthur legends, the Tor, the Abbey and the annual music festival. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace. Wookey Hole has spectacular show caves and family attractions, and Cheddar Gorge is Britain’s grandest limestone ravine, carved through the Mendips. Enjoy a nostalgic trip into the age of steam on the West Somerset railway; and the Fleet Air Museum has Europe’s largest naval collection of aircraft. The coastal resorts of Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare are an easy drive away, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. Coarse fishing is available in the river by prior arrangement with the owner. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin, both with en-suite shower room and toilet.

Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Freezer. Wi-fi. Small lawned garden with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (2 cars). Cycle store. Welcome pack. No smoking. NB: River in garden, 100 yards.

On arrival at the cottage we were apprehensive... the immediate vicinity is not very inviting and it is close to the main road. However, once inside we saw what a lovely cottage this is. Extremely well equipped - no corners cut - comfortable and spotlessly clean, we loved our time here and didn't want to leave! Lots of nice touches - a stock of tea bags, dishwasher tablets, tissue paper, etc - meant we didn't have to go straight to the supermarket to buy things we would hardly use. Great kitchen and cosy living room. Perfect for our family of 4. The double glazing effectively shut off the noise of the traffic though I do wonder if this would be an issue in the summer when you need to have the windows open. One small downside was the heating which was a mixture of storage and convector heaters (no central heating) and the upstairs was quite chilly at times. The location is great - Wells, Glastonbury, Cheddar all very close. We wanted to stay longer!

We had a lovely time staying in this cozy, charming cottage, it was everything we hoped it would be. It was close to Glastonbury town and Wells is about a 10 minute drive away. I have to admit we really didn't want to leave and we are missing it already. Although we didn't get to meet Chris, Anita made us feel very welcome. We are looking forward to coming back, hopefully very soon :)

The location was good for us because of its proximity to the road and therefore to buses, with Wells and Glastonbury within easy reach. However, this inevitably meant quite a bit of road noise.

Lovely traditional country cottage, well equipped with all mod cons to make for a comfortable holiday. Good location for visiting attractions and well serviced with shops and restaurants within a short drive. Anita and Chris were the perfect neighbours, offering advice and support when needed but not intrusive

Excellent standards throughout, backed up with support when needed from the owners who live adjacent. We were able to use the frequent and diverse bus services from the farm entrance which contributed highly to a relaxed but active holiday.
