Delightful barn conversion, ideal location for touring the area, market town of Alston with its narrow gauge railway close by.

These three, 18th century barn conversions, (refs 80043, 28645, 28646) are located just 1 mile from the market town of Alston, one of the highest towns in the country and a charming backdrop to many a period film and TV series. Situated behind the owner’s home, these holiday cottages offer comfortable accommodation with their own sitting-out areas.
Guests have shared use of the hot tub where views can be enjoyed towards Mount Hooley and over the South Tyne Valley. The changing landscape throughout the seasons makes for picturesque views all year round. After a day out exploring this delightful area, what better way to soak those tired limbs and relax.
This is a good base for exploring Tynedale and the North Pennines by foot, bicycle or car, with many places of interest to visit, including Alston’s narrow gauge railway, Pennine Pottery and local crafts. The Pennine Way runs past the door, with walks in all directions. Alston, with its quaint cobbled main street, has a range of individual shops, character inns, restaurants and tea rooms. Within the area is an historical Roman fort and tourists will enjoy the museums, exhibitions and sites along Hadrian’s Wall. The Lake District, Beamish Museum, Newcastle, the Metro Centre, Carlisle and the Scottish Borders are all within driving distance. Ideal for families or friends to get together, these properties (red 80043, 28645 and 28646) can be booked together to accommodate up to 10 guests. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

    Brilliant holiday! It was snowing whilst we was there and it was magical! In the hot tub in the snow in the Lakes is definitely one ticked off the list! Amazing!

    Loved our stay. Few basics missing we felt (couldn't find scissors & a couple of other bits we deem as essentials) beds were so comfy, very clean bedding & towels. Lovely & cosy. Log burner & hot tub were lovely touches. Would definitely revisit

    The holiday property is fine, but overall pretty basic and in need of a refit given the price. The property generally lacked a few facilities that would have made quite a difference, such as facilities for hanging and drying clothes and a hoover. The Kitchen facilities were also quite basic. The biggest single issue for myself was with the "Bike Store". In no way should this be referred to as such, it's an enormous outbuilding that is mainly full of scrap metal, stock cars with an oily floor. If you don't care too much about your bike that's probably fine, but this is C2C country and many will. In fairness to the owners it should be noted that the outbuilding does not detract from the views from the properties themselves and the area is absolutely lovely.

    Stayed for three nights and loved every minute. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone. Absolutely stunning!
