A quiet and relaxing place to stay. Very kind and helpful owners. Great for walking and cycling. The main gardens are lovely and Weycroft Hall is historic.

beautiful cottage was the perfect anniversary for us. Vince and Clio gave us a very warm welcome. their hospitality was amazing its one of the best holidays we ever had. The grounds surrounding the quaint cottage was so peaceful and relaxing also the cottage was so spacious. We had no fault at all and would definitely go back.

Cottage needs a complete make over strong smell of damp every time walked in clothes felt damp mold in places not enough utensils in kitchen Lovely Location and short drives to beaches

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I'm so sorry that you were disappointed with the Cottage and smelt damp: we will do all we can to eradicate that. If guests need anything extra we are on site and ask them to ask us: we can normally provide most things fairly easily. As for the complete makeover, it has recently been decorated, equipment has been updated, and it is thoroughly cleaned between each changeover. Many guests love the Cottage, and I'm so sorry you didn't. It is a very old barn conversion on a Grade 1 Listed site, so full of character but definitely not 'modernised'.

Excellent Cottage. It is a lovely old converted barn with more than enough space. Easy for parking and plenty of choices for walking our dog. The location is not only very central to the area but has a wonderful setting in the grounds of the ancient Manor. Vince and Clio are very helpful and more than happy to show us the Great Medieval Hall and tell us of its History.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. I'm so sorry this guest had a poor experience at the cottage. To get such a devastating review is always upsetting as we strive to deliver a lovely holiday experience. To clarify on a few issues: whilst being sensitive of guests' privacy, we live on site and welcome contact with them at any time during their stay. In this instance early liaison had been by telephone, when the guest said he was keen to fish on our stretch of the River Axe. I said I was happy for this and said that there would be no charge, but on trying it he was apparently disappointed. On leaving early he mentioned none of these complaints, but just said that his wife wasn't sleeping well as the bed was too low. Later came a request for refund, along with some of the reasons mentioned. It's a shame they weren't raised at the time, as there would then have been the opportunity to rectify them. The safety issue concerned an opening window on the first floor, with a low wide sill. It had not been raised in previous Health & Safety checks, but we have now fitted a restraining strap. The standard size 4 poster bed's mattress is 40cm/ 16 inches from the floor. This is on the low side for some people, so we will now make guests aware. The appliances are well used but perfectly functional and other guests have happily used the outside rotary drier. We would not want to make out that this is a top of the range, modern apartment. It is a rustic, old barn conversion and part of a Grade 1 listed Hall. Most people find the ambiance beautiful and peaceful and the charm of the Cottage is in the fact that it is not all super-modernised. We wish this guest well, and are so sorry he had such a bad experience.

Very disappointing. Health & Safety nightmare, photos available on request. Cottage needed a good spring clean, cobwebs and dust everywhere. Needs an upgrade, smelt of damp. Bed linen not ironed, which is ok but it was lifeless, ie old, as were the pillows and duvet. Object to paying for my dog, as the cleanliness was not up to my standards, let alone the dogs. Bathroom heater didn't work. Had to wash crockery and cutlery before use. Needs to be done in a dishwasher, after guests, as there are only hand washing facilities in the kitchen and not all guests standards are the same. Too many wires behind the TV (dangerous) Shower curtain dirty Poorly fitting lid to the water heater (dangerous) Extractor fans filthy Kettle needed descaling Plug in is a fire hazard

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am so sorry that this guest had such a poor experience: I wish they had raised this with me at the time, instead of which the 2 guests appeared friendly. Without wishing to appear defensive, when most other comments are very positive, to get such a devastating review makes me wonder why. The flats are cleaned at each handover, but being very rural, cobwebs can appear at any time. I take all reviews seriously, particularly safety issues, but I'm at a loss about this one!
