We were surprise to find the cottage a little run down. The kitchen units were scruffy, not as in the photos, the heating worked on some days and not others. It appears to me that there is a reluctance to spend even a little, to raise the standard, as the property appears to be sale. Had to empty dehumidifier every second day. However, it suited our purpose, to visit family in Chard, just a few miles away.

Lovely grounds friendly owner local to all places of interested. The humidifier supplied was adequate but had to cut short our holiday as the humidity in the cottage made us feel unwell but overall cottage was clean and comfortable our dog loved the walks from the door through the grounds and wooded area

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; The cottage is over 200 years old and it’s not always possible to keep the cottage with a dry atmosphere, in fact it’s not recommended that this is done to help preserve the building, adequate ventilation and heating are provided. Having exposed timbers and a vaulted ceiling with exposed stone on the internal walls in the lounge, we cannot guarantee a totally dry environment at times, especially when the weather is very wet outside as it was when you stayed with us. I do find it frustrating when our guests do not voice their concerns at the time of their stay which would allow us an opportunity to remedy any problems that may arise, but in this case we can’t resolve the matter of damp, wet weather. We are usually booked out for 35 to 45 weeks a year and our visitor book is full of praise and positive feedback. We have previously enjoyed high scores and so we were disappointed to receive the score that you gave.

Lovely old cottage out of the way with only the sounds of wild life. Owners very welcoming and gave us a tour round Weycroft Hall and was interesting to hear the history. Good location to all areas if it wasn't for road works. (A hazard of driving today).

Only thing missing at the time we stayed was a freezer. But Rob and family were very friendly and welcoming.
