The Scottish Regional Specialist - Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Scotland better!

Lovingly restored old stone mill originally built 150 years ago retaining a wealth of original features.

Originally built over 150 years ago, The Cornmill is a beautiful old stone mill that has been lovingly and sympathetically converted to make a cottage style house in a rural location. The property provides a high standard of accommodation with a smart interior. Situated in its own natural grounds amidst open farmland, it offers the height of modern living inside and the romance of an old stone cornmill outside. The remains of the old mill wheel have been retained. The main accommodation is open plan. The superb reception room has high vaulted ceilings and large French windows and glass panelled walls that drink in the light. It has been superbly furnished and decorated by the owner, who is also an artist. Some of her paintings and works by other artists adorn the walls and the good sized bedrooms also have an artistic theme, such as an Indian double bedroom on the ground floor. There are two bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen/diner. From inside there are views of open farmland and hills.

The Cornmill is part of a complex of properties that once were part of the mill and are now cottages. The mill is located down a private lane in an old part of Auchleven. There are castles, gardens and a whisky trail nearby. The coast is only an hour’s drive away.

Cottage itself was lovely. Location was not secluded as stated on advertisement and garden could have been a lot better.

We have had many holidays in Scotland over the last 25 years and have never had such uncomfortable beds as these! We tried 2 different bedrooms, the first one upstairs, and it had a block of wood and some books under the bed to support the slats, very uncomfortable. The second one downstairs was slightly better but we both had very bad backs by the end of the week. The third was a twin bedded room and had no sheets or quilt covers so we couldn't try them out. The shower room down stairs was excellent. Television reception good, no mobile reception, kitchen ok but a bit cluttered with owners bits & pieces. It didn't mention a washing machine in the details but there is one, a dishwasher would have been good as we had to wash up any plates and stuff before we could use them as they were very greasy. Location was not as secluded as were led to believe as it was overlooked by other houses and there was building work very near by on the edge of the small scruffy garden. Carpets would have been nice in the bedrooms instead of tatty slipy rugs.
