This was our first visit to Cornwall for many years and frankly we had forgotten how beautiful the countryside and coastal scenery is in this part of the world. Our visit was regrettably only for a short stay (4 nights) and we were seeking a comfortable base away from the hustle and bustle of town and city life....we were certainly not disappointed as the Coach house met and exceeded all our expectations. The house is very comfortable with everything provided that one would wish for. Unfortunately one of our days was marred by inclement weather so much so we just relaxed in the comfortable lounge which was a a very rare occasion for us. The location is about mid-way between Launceston and Liskeard on a 'B' road which is very narrow in places but this just added to the fun. The local shop at Upton Cross was a small village shop but to our surprise stocked an excellent array of food with local sausages to die for and the proprietor was very friendly and helpful! Lots of local produce was also available (delicious strawberries) so on our rainy day we certainly did not go hungry!! The south coast resorts of Looe and Polperro were about a 30 minute drive away and the northern resorts of Padstow and Port Isaac (Doc Martin) slightly longer. We dined at the local pub one evening (Caradon Arms) and enjoyed an excellent meal with local ale and with a 5 minute drive back to the house this was ideal. The Coach House certainly ticked all our boxes and we would have no hesitation in recommending this if one is seeking an away from it all location but within easy access to all the main tourist spots. Perhaps next visit we will be able to make use of the huge garden and try the footpath at the rear to the next town. Thanks Julia for allowing us use of your fabulous property. We hope to revisit again one day having re-kindled our love of the West country!!
