Description

Nestled between Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy in the picturesque Cambrian Mountains, this lovely cottage has been tastefully renovated and offers traditional accommodation with a wealth of character.

Sitting in the stunning hamlet of Minllyn is the delightful detached cottage known as ‘The Coach House’, which was originally the former Coach House of Lord Buckley’s Estate.  Nestled between Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy in the picturesque Cambrian Mountains, this lovely cottage has been tastefully renovated and offers traditional accommodation with a wealth of character.   The large spacious lounge with its impressive inglenook fireplace and wood burner offers comfy sofas and invites you to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring.  Having a large Kitchen Diner with all modern appliances, a utility room and three good sized bedrooms together with two bathrooms, one having a Spa Jacuzzi Bath, this cottage has everything to make your holiday perfect.  Its gardens are an additional feature offering lawned areas and a shingle patio, having a stone built BBQ and Chimenea; ideal for the alfresco dining.  The River Dyfi (Dovey) runs through the field at the rear of the cottage and The Coach House has fishing rights over a 1 mile stretch of the river (permit required).  There are four pubs close by and the Meirion Woollen Mill, which has a coffee shop, stands on the banks of the River Dovey and is open to visitors.
The Dyfi valley is home to Wales’ first new style world class UNESCO Biosphere - a special place where conservation and sustainable development go hand in hand.  So much of the area’s economy is connected with the quality of our environment, and therefore landowners and the business community play a large part in the Biosphere in order that our towns, villages and surrounding countryside develop and benefit our future quality of life and happiness.

We loved our stay in the Coach house. It was a very spacious and interestingly quirky house. Lovely mountain views. Would stay again.

This cottage is really well situated to explore the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage was well equipped and very clean. The surrounding views were amazing. We went as a family of 3 adults, 5 children and 1 dog. There were plenty of local walks which included skimming stones on the gentle stream. The local Red Lion pub was a favourite for a family meal that served lovely food which also had 2 pool tables to keep the kids entertained. Despite the remote location we were able to arrange a Tesco delivery on our day of arrival so did not give a low score on the local amenities as it is possible to plan your trip to not be entirely dependent on what is available in the immediate area. We would highly recommend Barmouth beach, just a 25 minute drive away, even in April the kids were playing in the sea, collecting shells, playing in the sand dunes. The owner was incredibly helpful for sharing knowledge on the local area and places to visit, he was more than happy to be contacted prior to arrival with any questions we had. We had an amazing Easter holiday and would love to come back some day to continue our exploration of Snowdonia.
