Forming part of a converted stable positioned on the first floor of a large historic house 10 miles from Ullapool.

The Coach House forms part of a converted stable positioned on the first floor of a large historic stone house just 10 miles from Ullapool in the heart of Wester Ross. This attractively presented apartment has a lovely open plan lounge/kitchen with focal electric stove and deep leather sofas. There is a separate dining room which can also be used as a second occasional bedroom if required. There is a spacious double bedroom with colour coordinated soft furnishings and attractive pine furniture. A modern bathroom completes the picture.

This large country house was built in 1840 and was once part of the Braemore Estate of the renowned Engineer, Sir John Fowler, who built the Forth Rail Bridge, the Pimlico Bridge, which carried the first railway across the Thames (1860) and Victoria Station and was a pioneer of the London Underground system. Examples of Sir John’s creativity can be found on the land and nearby, such as the suspension bridge over the spectacular Corrieshalloch Gorge and the Falls of Measach, both popular places to visit close by. Visitors are welcome to wander through the grounds of the house, help tend the lambs and meet the friendly Kune pigs bred by the owners. Fishing can also be arranged on the owner’s private stretch of the River Broom, framed for its salmon, trout and sea trout. Just 10 minutes’ drive away is the charming fishing village of Ullapool, which has a good selection of small shops as well as excellent local bars and restaurants. This superb apartment makes an ideal base for a real Highland holiday, with spectacular walks, Munros to climb and cycling routes to explore. There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Canoeing, sailing, fishing, riding, bird watching and golf are all enjoyed locally.
