We loved the cottage. So cosy and beautifully presented with everything you could need. A little disappointed that there was not a pub within walking distance. The listing says pub within one mile but this is certainly not the case. Luckily we loved the cottage so much that we were happy to stay in in the evenings. The owners also kindly offered to give us a lift in to Llandeilo if we wanted to go out for the evening. The cottage is right next to the owners house although they were lovely and left us to it after an initial welcome. Good location as a base to explore the area but you definitely couldn't do so without a car as the location is very rural. Wonderful if you like the peace and quiet! Sheep for neighbours and beautiful views. Loved the cottage but would not personally return as I prefer to have a pub and shops within walking distance.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We apologise, as you clearly felt misled about the distance to the pub. By way of explanation, the description of the Cartshed we wrote and submitted in 2012 includes the following: ‘A short drive will take visitors to Carreg Cennen, Dryslwyn and Dinefwr castles, the bustling and picturesque town of Llandeilo, with its shops, pubs and restaurants, the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Aberglasney Gardens, Newton House and The Brecon Beacons National Park. There are pubs and restaurants in the nearby villages of Llanarthne, Milo and Dryslwyn’. However, in order to comply with the word limit on the website the relevant sentence was edited to read: ‘Shops 4 miles, pub 1 mile’. In fact the nearest pub is 1.21 miles away, but more importantly, perhaps, there are some steep hills between us and the pub, which would make it quite a challenging walk, especially on the way back! In order to avoid further misunderstanding and disappointment we have asked for the reference to the pub to be removed from the website but will continue to offer to ferry guests if required.

The Cart Shed was a cosy, well-furnished property that ticked all the boxes for us during our short break in Wales. On arrival we were greeted by Doug and Stella who were both friendly and welcoming. We were briefly shown around the property by Doug, given all the information we required and then left to get ourselves settled. Stella was kind enough to bake a cake for our arrival and it was simply delicious and a very nice touch. We used the Cart Shed as a quiet retreat and a base for exploring the local area and the surrounding Brecon Beacons. The property was situated in a fantastic spot with lots of local sights and castles to visit. Travel a little further and you can also visit some beautiful coastal towns and the main city of Swansea if you wish. The property itself was extremely well finished and had a very warm and modern feel to it. We actually felt that the images we saw when booking didn't do this property justice -it was even nicer in person! Everything within the property worked as it should, and we remained warm and comfortable throughout our stay. The log burner is a lovely addition this property. Doug and Stella are fantastic hosts who provided us with all the space and privacy we could have asked for. They were extremely helpful when providing information about local walks and sights. Just a small note - I drive a performance car which is close to the ground and I did find the uneven track leading to the property a tricky one to navigate. The car coped and was not damaged, but it did require a slow and cautious approach. This no way detracts from the property or the holiday we enjoyed, I just thought it might be worth a mention for future visitors. We would highly recommend the Cart Shed to all our friends and family, and have even considered returning ourselves next year! A big thanks again to Doug and Stella.

The accommodation was first class and set amid lovely countryside. It was an ideal base for visiting the many lovely places on the Gower Peninsular. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely excellent. Stella and Doug were great hosts and despite us not having our own mode of transport during the week they were more than happy to offer us a lift into town and give advice on prospective walks. The cottage itself is set within a charming smallholding with a multitude of friendly farm animals including chickens, sheep, a goat, cat and dog. Facilities all worked a charm. It was the perfect romantic retreat for my boyfriend and I who are outdoorsy and active people.
