Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

This cosy cottage has a sunny lawned garden ideal for al fresco dining, and is a perfect location for exploring both the coast and country of Kent and Sussex.

This cosy detached holiday cottage is in a rural location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful counties of Kent and Sussex, including ’1066 country’, and combines the coast and the countryside. The cottage benefits from open-plan accommodation and a sunny lawned garden. Situated within the owners’ grounds and close to the village of Robertsbridge on the River Rother, with its atmospheric pubs and black and white medieval timber framed houses.
Robertsbridge is well known with cricket enthusiast’s as the home to the cricket bat makers Gray-Nicolls, established in 1876, and who still grow their own willow locally for the cricket bats. Visit the factory for an insight into the process of cricket bat making (tours are pre-booked). Take a trip on the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway which chugs through 10½ miles of glorious countryside from Tenterden, ’The Jewel of the Weald’, to Bodiam, with its fairytale moated castle which is well worth visiting. Spend a day at Battle Abbey and the famous battle field, the re-enactment of the battle of Hastings takes place each October. Take a guided tour of the local vineyards including Carr Taylor and Sedlescombe, which produce some award-winning wines. Hire bikes and cycle around Bewl Water or take out a fishing boat for trout and pike fishing (at cost, licence required). The coast at Hastings with its beach launched fishing fleet and iconic net huts is approximately 10 miles away. Good rail links to London from Robertsbridge offer further sightseeing opportunities. Beach 8.5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Spacious and bright interior with all you need for a basic few days away. Shame the A21 is so close and noisy but walk in opposite direction and the quieter it gets.

Great cottage in a central location optimal for those who want to enjoy the wield and the countryside. Remember to bring pounds because the electricity and heating are powered by a coin-eating machine and during colder times you will need more than the standard amount.

We booked The Cart Lodge for the dog friendlyness, sadly though we lost him through illness a week before the stay. So although we very much enjoyed our stay, it was marred by sadness, but it is a beautiful cottage and well equipped and very comfortable.

A few negatives first. The cottage is right next door to the owner and the cottage garden is actually the owners front garden. You can also hear the busy A21 from the garden and bedroom. However, overall the property is lovely and Poppy the owner was helpful with places to visit. Despite being so close to the owner we rarely saw them. The cottage itself is lovely, well kitted out and nicely proportioned. All in all a lovely cottage but we did feel a bit awkward using the garden as a bedroom looked out onto it.

Did not like lack of privacy as car parking for the owners was at front of cottage, no secure garden for our dog. Owner was especially thoughtful with welcome pack. The garden was on the owners grounds and therefore no privacy, this is the only fault with this property.
