Camber, Bodiam and Scotney castles are all nearby, along with Battle Abbey and the beautiful gardens of Sissinghurst, Pashley, Great Dixter and Bedgebury Pinetum. The Cart lodge is located on a lovely farm 10 minutes outside of the town centre. It's very rural but has a great supermarket just down the road for supplies. The accommodation was excellent as we had a dog in tow and the grassed area outside made our life so easy. We could leave the door open and she could roam free. The lodge overlooks a lovely pond and has decked areas to the front and back ensuring you can sit in the sun all day. Living area is open plan but had all you needed. Kitchen was small but came fully fitted with microwave and plates etc. Sitting area was a little uncomfortable as settee and chairs were quite small. We didn't stay in much so not a problem for us. Liz came to visit and was very helpful. She advised us to visit Winchelsea beach which was amazing for dog walking. Be aware of the tide, it comes in really quick. We also visited Camber Sands which is much busier but the sand dunes were great fun. We used the Jemsons supermarket which has great ready meals from their Cook range and the Globe pub/restaurant does amazing food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be going back.

Good points: beautiful master suite upstairs, walking distance to pub, free Bramley apples, friendly & welcoming host, lots of nice outdoor space so good in summer, nice powerful shower, very clean, short driving distance to Rye. Things that could have been better: living area is tiny (so although cottage sleeps 4 much better for couples) & not very cosy, sofa is pretty uncomfortable, second bedroom lacks charm, towels clean but had seen better days.

Lovely little lodge, very clean and modern and well equipped. About 3 miles from Camber Sands and very close to Rye. We really enjoyed our stay.
