Set in 6 acres of grounds

This cluster of holiday cottages (refs 27747 & 27748) lies in the picturesque 6 acres of grounds of Hinton Grange, a former hotel now lived in by the owners. The Drake Studio (27747) is semi-detached whilst The Campbell Cottage (27748) is terraced. Both have accommodation on ground floor level. They lie just off the M4, yet are surrounded by open fields and countryside, and being on the Cotswolds Way footpath, are ideal for walkers and cyclists. Virtually next door is the 17th-century Dyrham Park (NT), a grand baroque mansion with sweeping views towards Bristol, and also the venue for many concerts and summer events. Only 9 miles to the centre of Bath, with many famous attractions including Pulteney Bridge, the abbey, Roman Baths, Aquae Sulis Spa and the sweeping Georgian crescents. Bath is a lively, year-round destination, with museums, galleries, cultural events and unique shopping. Further afield is the start of the Cotswolds and within a short drive are the historic cities of Bristol, Wells and Salisbury. The coastal resorts of Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon and Burnham-on-Sea are within an hour’s drive. Shop 1/2 mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

All on ground floor: Living room with patio doors/dining room/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 2 double (one 5ft, one zip and link can be twin beds on request), both with patio doors and en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Electric central heating included. Use of owner’s washing machine. Table top freezer. Small enclosed garden.

Both properties: Open fire in living room (initial fuel included). Electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot and high chair on request. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Patio with sitting-out area and furniture. Shared 6-acre grounds. Ample parking. Welcome pack. No smoking. NB: Pond in grounds.

Thank you Angela and family for your welcome and hospitality - the homemade bread was a lovely touch on arrival. Thank you for going that extra mile for us as well. A great holiday. I would recommend as is easily accessible from the M4 and to all the main attractions in Somerset. The accommodation was comfortable (the beds were amazing!). We were impressed also with the extra facilities at the accommodation, the games room and the washing facilities :-)

Loved our little break. Angela was very accommodating and the welcome pack she put together was more than we could have asked for. It included bread, eggs, milk, juice, cereal, chocolates and even wine, amongst other essential bits. The cottage was really spacious and the enclosed garden was an added bonus for the dog. Lots of games and DVDs to choose from if you want a cosy night in. The cottage is set within spacious grounds which were open for residents to enjoyed. The games room was also a pleasant surprise. The local pub was just 200 yards up the road, it served some amazing food and is dog friendly. Our 6 month old pup was warmly welcomed with a fuss and a biscuit, even by the regulars! The closest convenience store was a short drive away in the next village so, unfortunately, there is nothing other than the pub within walking distance. There are are some lovely local public footpaths around the area, if walking is your thing, and the westonbirt arboretum was just a 20 minute drive away. My only criticism would be that we found the sofa in the lounge very low which became uncomfortable after a while, however, I do struggle with my hips and am used to much higher seats at home. Also, as towels were provided in the property anyway, a t-towel and oven gloves would have been useful but as we had taken our own anyway, thats just being really picky. I'm sure, had we asked, this could have been provided. Overall, we had a fantastic, chilled out, stress free, technology free break and will be recommending this place to my friends and family. This definately won't be the last time we visit.

Campell Cottage is an excellent holiday base - the owner ( Angela ) has thought about every aspect of her visitors' comfort. Particularly thoughtful is the welcome pack of freshly baked bread, wine, chocolates, biscuits, etc.Campbell Cottage is ideal for dogs because of the extensive grounds where they can be walked. Our only suggestions, being really picky, is that it would have been nice to have lights by which one could comfortably read in the sitting room in the evening and, since we were there during a very wet week, a heated towel rail in the bathrooms would have helped, though we were able to use the tumble drier in the utility room. All in all, we would recomend Campell Cottage without reservations.
