Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Situated in the Eden Valley, is a small working farm and this mid-19th-century former byre, with access to the surrounding countryside.

Easy access to surrounding countryside

Situated on a small working farm this mid 19th-century former byre has been thoughtfully renovated to retain much of its character with exposed beams and quarry tiled floor. With its own sunny, secluded garden the detached single storey cottage is situated high up in the unspoilt Eden Valley, on the boundary of the new Westmorland Dales, the extension of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Here the holidaymaker has easy access to the surrounding countryside, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. The bustling market town of Kirkby Stephen is 2.5 miles - the Coast to Coast walk passes through here and the town also has a station on the Settle-Carlisle railway. Appleby, with its castle, swimming pool and famous annual horse fair, is 9 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2.5 miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with beams/dining room/kitchen with beams. 1 double bedroom. Bathroom with toilet.

Woodburner in living room included. Biomass central heating and electricity included (£25per week October-March). Bed linen included. Electric cooker. Microwave. Enclosed lawned garden with furniture. Ample parking. No smoking.

Lovely cottage, rustic, warm and cosy. Excellent heating system. Friendly owners and welcoming but unobtrusive. Nice walks from the door. Dog friendly. Lacks some of the basics like a shower and WiFi would be good too - but great for a break away. Stayed over New Year and only booked on the day - thanks!! Will stay again.

Everything we needed for a peaceful break away. Owners very helpful but not in your pocket. Field nearby where we walked our three Labradors was perfect.

Black mould in places wasn't ideal for me as an allergy sufferer. Cottage could also have been cleaner. But it is in a nice quiet location and heating / woodburner worked well.

We wanted a short break away with our 3 dogs and The Byre allowed us to do this. Cottage was adequate but requires a little updating especially the bathroom - really requires a shower which has been commented on previously. Lovely log burner fire and plenty of hot water. Owners lovely and couldn't do enough to help without being intrusive. Lovely and private with super enclosed garden for dogs.

The Cottage was fine, the problem was Most of Shops CLOSED as it was Appleby Horse Fair & around 3,000 plus Gypsies were present as well! It might have been better to have not rented the cottage out within the period of the Fair. As we were only around 40 miles from Scotland if I had known about Fair would not have Gone there, we have had many holidays walking in the the Highlands and enjoyed Everyone returning 5 times in one year going again in October, In all the WORST Holiday Ever.
