The house was clean, quiet, comfortable, safe and well equipped except for the need of a chair/chairs in the bedrooms to put clothes on overnight and a small table in the conservatory for drinks/coffee/teas. There was no soap in the main bathroom, unlike the ensuite one above which was excellently appointed. The Co-Op store was a welcome close amenity and the central location of the house was ideal. Some black bags for rubbish would be helpful. The parking was a bit tricky at the back for easing a Citroen Picasso in, given that the onstreet parking was largely full when we were there, with a longish walk to the nearest space available.

Following two disappointments we found this cottage very nice. Our only drawback was the three levels it was on, for two geriatrics, but this was probably our oversight. It was nice and central, and although parking at the front was just about impossible, it didn't cause a problem as we parked privately, in the back garden drive way. Clean and well presented, it was a delight to spend a holiday here.

This is a comfortable, warm and well equipped cottage. We only used the shower in the ensuite bathroom but it was a powerful shower belting out hot water! It is an ideal location for pubs and restaurants in walking distance, we particularly liked Golden Mountain Chinese and the Brookside pub (stunning pizzas). We did 4 days walking whilst there and didn't use our car the whole time, walking from the house on 3 of the days and catching the bus to Grasmere on the other day. The bus service is very good but a tad expensive - beats driving and parking though so was probably worth it. If you do not feel like eating out, the kitchen is well equipped with a nice dining room with a DAB radio.

Comfy little cottage in need of some TLC. As advertised, the stairs could cause problems with those who have limited mobility or if you've been climbing and have aching joints. Perfect location right in the centre of Windermere, but this has to be offset with traffic noise (especially early morning with the Co-Op lorry making deliveries most days). Car parking on street nigh on impossible and parking at rear tricky with a large vehicle, but once you get the hang of it, it's ok.

We had a lovely week in the Burrow. Helped by glorious weather. The cottage was in an ideal location and had plenty of room.

The burrow was very good for our needs. The stairs are very steep. If you are fit then no problem but if you struggle at all it is not for you. It would have been nice to have the double bedroom as the ensuite. Our children had that advantage whereas we had to go down stairs in the night. We loved the fact that it was so close to the town and the parking bay at the back was fine even for a reasonably big car. The extension at the back was also lovely in the afternoon sunshine. It will need some updating to keep it fresh, but we had a lovely holiday and were comfortable. We would return.
