What a wonderful place to stay - such a lovely bungalow; comfortable, well- equipped, immaculately clean, and the glorious view from the pretty garden is something we will remember for a long time. It was perfect for us with our Staffordshire Bull Terrier and two teenage sons in tow. On arrival we were met with a warm welcome from Mr Grainger who told us some interesting facts about the house and village, and after a 5 hour journey we were touched to find milk in the fridge and the makings for a hot drink. The village pub a short walk away served excellent food. A great relaxing weekend, and we hope to return in the not too distant future.

The cottage is very clean and has a pretty garden, but is at the side of a surprisingly busy road - won't be a problem if you're going to be out most of the time, but something to bear in mind if you need a quiet countryside break. The village is very pretty and well placed for walking and sightseeing - nearest shops are in Ripley or Alfreton (both a very short drive - there's also an hourly bus service from the stop almost opposite the cottage). Belper is also a short drive and has lovely riverside gardens, as well as a "mill museum".

The Bungalow was fine, and we enjoyed our holiday, but found the peak district more scenic, that the area in which the bungalow is situated, but had a fantastic day at the Crich tram museum.

Only downside the television needs replacing. Buzzing noise that's irritating.Apart from that we love the place.

We only stayed for a weekend with our dogs, but it was very cosy - just like stepping into your Nan's house. Even an electric blanket on the double bed. Lovely views across Amber Valley, and charming gardens, but beware these are not secure for dogs/children.
