The Briar is located in a very private location of Idridgehay, makes this perfect to unwind from busy life. With excellent views and walks right on the door step, brilliant for dogs. Our stay was with two adults one child and a dog, which the cottage provided enough space for all. Very nice, helpful host and hope to return soon. Vikki

First there are a couple of points to note. The accommodation is on three levels with quite tight stairs between which might be a problem for some and the main bedroom is in the attic with sloping ceilings that might cause anyone over 6 feet tall a headache. That being said, the rest is marvelous. The location is rural but there are footpaths right outside the door and a vintage steam railway a few hundred yards beyond that. The owners are really welcoming and extremely helpful and they have dogs, so they understand the needs of dog-owners. There is a small village shop within easy walking distance with larger facilities an easy drive away. I spent a lovely week there and had plenty to see and do and only scratched the surface of what was available. I was expecting to have to travel a bit to the Peak District, but there is so much to see and do locally, within a 30 minute drive say, that this did not prove necessary, although I did go on one of the days. Altogether a really wonderful cottage to use with great hosts and tons to see and do.

The ceiling in bedroom is as brochure and low. Be prepared, my hubby is 6'1" was ok for couple nights but I laughed, alot when he hit his head Stunning location, lovely owners, wonderful time with poochy. Would stay again, but no shops in village selling beer or wine or open SundAy so just be sure you are more organized than us... Loved the property, I could live there, very sweet and I fell in love with it...

A very warm welcome. Beautiful cottage in a lovely location which is ideal for walking. Very dog friendly. The area is peaceful & quiet. The only downside is the small living room and take care not to hit your head on the bedroom roof. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and really glad we picked this cottage
