Ideal retreat for couples with access from the bedroom directly into the owners’ walled garden with bird and wildlife in the area.

This 18th century former gardeners cottage is quietly situated on the edge of the ruined William Adam designed Mavisbank Estate. It forms a wing of the owners house, their large attractive walled garden can be gained by a French door in the spacious bedroom. The surrounding area attracts an abundance of wild and birdlife. Tastefully furnished and decorated, it makes an excellent holiday base for touring with easy access to Roslyn Chapel (where ’The Da Vinci Code’ was filmed), the Borders, East Lothian, and Fife. Edinburgh centre, 7 miles. Fishing, riding, golf, dry ski slope nearby. Shops and pubs 1½ miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet.

Oil central heating included (£25per week October-April). Electricity, bed linen and towels included. Video and small library. CD. Microwave. Washing machine. Shared use of large garden with ruined Palladian gazebo and furniture. Barbecue. Parking. No smoking. NB: There is a pond in the garden.

lovely cosy cottage with the most comfortable bed i have ever slept on. Near to Edinburgh with buses frequently runing dont try and drive and park the bus is so cheap in comparison to cost of parking. My only litle complaint would it would have been really helpful to have a small container of milk after a 9 hour journey we were desperate for a cup of tea. Quite difficult to find. Would recommend to anyone.
