Attractive oak barn, with exposed beams, galleried sitting area and airy sunroom, Canterbury and Dover with its castle close by.

Farthingales is a Grade II listed homestead, based around a 15th century hall house set in the heart of the Kent countryside. It sits adjacent to the historic village church and on the edge of rolling fields. Two of the property’s outbuildings, The Barn (ref PZV) and The Stables (ref UKC16), have been sensitively converted to provide accommodation which reflect their history, by retaining original features, whilst providing the comforts of modern living such as underfloor heating.

Local attractions include the famous city of Canterbury, with its beautiful cathedral, dominant city walls and an array of boutique shops, bars and restaurants. Enjoy a day trip to France by ferry from Dover to Calais, or by train from Ashford via the Channel Tunnel. Nearby coastal towns in Kent include Broadstairs, famous for its annual Folk Festival, and Whitstable, a charming fishing town with local shops, oyster festivals and pubs right on the beach. London is easily accessible with several high speed train routes from Kent; in under an hour you can enjoy all that the capital has to offer. The Barn (ref PZV) and The Stables (ref UKC16) can be booked together to accommodate up to seven guests. Shops 1½ miles, village pub?/?restaurant ½ mile.

An amazing barn conversion in amazing grounds. Very sensitively converted so that you get a good sense of the history of the place. By far the most interesting and well-appointed property we've stayed in so far, with a lovely 'Welcome' pack. Plenty of room to move around in, both indoors and out. The new owners are very friendly and quite willing to offer suggestions for particular places to go when asked (in addition to the plentiful informative leaflets in the property).

The owners were very welcoming and helpful for finding everything around. They made us feel very well in a cosy atmosphere with a great kitchen. Some approvements regarding showering would be fine. It was rather expensive, but you know that when booking. The Barn is a little far away from facilities, but you can find that out before, too. At the whole it is a fine place to stay.
