our stay at the barn was amazing there was alot to keep our grandkids amused, plenty of room and location brilliant. A lovely circular walk around the golf course which is just the other side of the garden. A few things like it would have been nice to get a welcoming gift like a bottle of wine etc., and also needed a few maintenance issue but being a bit picky, all in all well recommened

Nice house but the appliances all need updating. Hot water system not up to supplying all guests. Utility room requires you to walk through a bedroom and downstairs toilet is in bedroom while the master bedroom has 2 bathrooms. Windows And doors require tlc. Could be amazing

The Barn is a beautiful, spacious and comfortable property with everything that you need to a peaceful and enjoyable break in the Forest of Dean. It has large grounds and is ideally located for the forest, Monmouth, Chepstow and Gloucester. The kitchen is very well equipped and the dining room has a large pool table and Playstation to keep you entertained. The 4 bedrooms are very comfortable and the sitting room is large with very comfortable leather sofas. I would highly recommend the Barn for a break in this area.

The Barn is a very spacious property with a huge garden and enough room for 10 people to be able to find their own space if they want to or come together. However, there are a few things that could be better. 1) Bathrooms - there were 4 bathrooms but 3 of those were inside bedrooms (2 of them in the same bedroom!) which meant that 6 of the 10 guests had to share 1 bathroom. The showers weren't especially powerful and the shared bathroom plumbing was extremely noisy - not great for use at night. 2) Kitchen - when cooking for 10, a single oven is not really sufficient. Much of the cookware had to be cleaned before we could use it. 3) Approach road - appreciate that it's owned by the Forestry Commission but how difficult would it be to fill in the holes and level the surface? 4) Furniture - most of the furnishings in the house were new and/or very nice but the double bed in the family bedroom was bouncy and uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong, The Barn is a super space but maybe it needs some attention to make it great.

Great location for visiting the Forest of Dean, large property with large garden. However, compared to other similar properties we have stayed in, the interior of the property needs updating and perhaps a more thorough clean is required inbetween guests, we were even expected to strip our own beds at the end of the stay or face being charged extra for the cleaner. The fire in the living room has a condemned sticker on it from several years ago, why hasn't it been replaced?? The 'ensuite' sized main bathroom shared between the family room and the twin room has horrendously loud banging pipes (not resolved by the suggested "run a tap"), again an old problem not attended to. With an update and a rejig of the layout, possibly make the main bedroom the family room as it has 2 ensuites, this could be a really great place to stay. We have contacted the owner prior to posting this review but they have failed to acknowledge our email.

Perfect for large get together. Garden is huge, perfect for kids to run around. Supplied BBQ could be better, but we took disposeable to save cleaning anyway. Have only marked down cleanliness as lots of cobwebs on lights and eaves, although ground level cleaning is a 10. Very comfortable bed (we had superking in big bedroom). Slightly strange bathroom arrangements but plenty of them for a family if you don't mind going through bedrooms. Highly recommended and easily the most well-equipped holiday rental we've ever used. Shame fire doesn't work in lounge and water pipes can be noisy, but to be expected in old quirky property. Kind neighbour gave us wood for outside firepit though.

Excellent property for families to share. We had everything we needed. Beautiful area to explore. Garden is huge, it could easily accommodate a swimming pool which would have made it even more amazing. Would love to return and will recommend to others.

Beautifully converted barn. Good standard of furnishings. Clean and spacious. Only negative would be the poor standard of the barbeque which needs replacing. Very light and lovely big rooms and gardens. We all gad a lovely stay and our party ranged from 8 months to 60 years!

Great place to stay. It's a shame the fancy shower in the downstairs bedroom had no power to it, and the fire in the lounge didn't work. The travel cot only just fitted in that bedroom too - after shifting the bed towards the wall. It was lovely being able to have the whole family under one roof. Definitely keep on the list of places to stay again.
