Lovely cottage, well equipped, clean. The survey asks about amenities - there aren't any but you should know that before you arrive and it suited us perfect. We had young children and dogs and the house was great. The countryside and coast is stunning with lots of walks to do. Would definitely book this cottage again.

When we arrived at Arch Barn the sun was shining and it looked wonderful but I was initially disappointed when I saw the rotten wood at the bottom of the patio door, if this was rotten what other problems would we find? The rot had left a 2" hole which I had to block with a baking tray but on entering the barn you walk into a large well equipped kitchen. Some food supplies were provided which were much appreciated. The sitting room was comfortably set out with a large TV in the corner which unfortunately had a problem with reception although it was watchable. The double bedroom was comfortable, the other two rooms were basic and one of the beds on the ground floor had a broken frame. The upstairs bathroom was very clean but on entering the shower room which is off the kitchen we were all delighted to see a very clean modern setup. As our visit was towards the end of the holiday season the barn is no doubt due for some maintenance but to holiday in a building like this adds to the break from the normal routine of life. Overall the barn is in a lovely part of the country and makes a good base from which to venture out. With the expectation that repairs would be carried out I would recommend Arch Barn to friends.

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your comments and we are delighted you enjoyed your holiday. We will look into the bed frame as we were not aware of that. In relation to the patio doors we have been talking to carpenters for some weeks to replace them. New doors are being made this week so we are sorry you were inconvenienced. We will also check out the TV as the signal is received via satellite so it should be fine.

This is a good base to explore the beaches in Pembrokeshire. However, the cottage was not cleaned well, the towels and bedding were very old and tired, the kitchen utensils were not great (no sharp knives), and the mattresses on the beds need to be replaced with newer ones. There is no shower attachment in the bath and so there was only one shower for use by a party of 6. The cottage did have a good amount of leaflets on the local sights and a good number of board games and books.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: Firstly we are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at Arch Barn. With regard to the concerns raised we have considered these and discussed them with our property managers. With regard to the bed linen and towels our property managers, who manage a number of holiday lets, inform us they show no signs of wear. The three sets of branded bedding and towels for each bed were bought only last year and are also used in rotation and hence not continually used. We acquired these to fit in with the overall country feel of the Barn and hence they may not have been to your taste. In respect of the need for sharp knives there is a knife block set with scissors. We use the Arch Barn ourselves and have not had any issues with the mattresses nor had any issues reported by friends and family who have used the place and whom we have asked for direct feedback, or other guests. With regard to the upstairs bath fittings, the description is clear that there is a shower room downstairs and a bath upstairs. "
