Ok so the good – there is clearly lots to do around Wiltshire, especially if you're National Trust members. The cottage is very convenient for many local attractions, and the walk with our dogs to the nearby deer park was very pleasant. Chris the gentleman owner was also absolutely lovely. The bad – as other reviewers online have stated, the property description and photographs are at best very misleading. The cottage is not on the edge of the owners garden, it's three feet from their home and therefore very overlooked. Every window is directly in the line of sight of the owner’s home, so as such, we had an unpleasant feeling of being observed all week. We had to bleach the shower to rid it of a significant amount of mould build up, and vacuum the floors properly on day one. The cottage is generally in need of a proper deep and thorough clean – there are cobwebs and layers of dust every where. The oven trays wouldn't be out of place in the museum at Stonehenge – grim! We were on holiday with our one year old son, and given the very low standards of hygiene and cleanliness I would honestly say the accommodation is not suitable for a family. The worst part however, was being accosted by the hypersensitive and slightly hysterical female owner (which I presume she was, as she never actually introduced herself or asked how our holiday was!) of the property before I had even turned the handle on the front door on our second day, to be told that the previous guest’s dog had defecated in the hallway, and therefore can our housetrained dogs not be left in there! I was already slightly uneasy about the standard of cleanliness in the property, but to be told this, didn't help matters!

A cosy modern cottage in pleasant and relaxed surroundings. Friendly and helpful owners - starter pack of milk/bread/eggs much appreciated. The cottage is well placed for local attractions and walking/towns. We aim to return in the summer to do some walking.

We had a great mini break at the Apple Store - perfect size for 2 people in a great location for lots of walks. Some of the villages are beautiful closeby and within walking distance. Cottage was lovely and compact for 2 people with everything you need and the owners let you wander around their garden. Jet the dog was lovely and greeted you every day.

The Apple Store is just right for two people. There is plenty of space and the bedroom in the eaves is very pleasant, though you have to remember to mind your head! There are lovely views from it too. The shower room is small but thoughtfully set out and there were plenty of towels. The lounge is comfortable and there is a nice patio area, which is overlooked by the owner's house. The kitchen is adequately, but not brilliantly, equipped though the non-stick pans are scratched. There are several notices at various points in the cottage which I didn't mind but my husband found annoying. There were pretty flowers in the hall and snack food (6 slices of bread, 4 eggs, some butter and there probably should have been some milk but it was forgotten maybe) to greet us and a couple of bottles of the owner's apple juice (£3.50 each) which was really nice.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review, sorry to hear some of the pans were scratched, we have now replaced them. Sorry to hear you felt the kitchen was only adequately equipped we have many comments on how well equipped visitors feel it is. The notices are aimed to help, rather than turning on the wrong switches etc. Sorry also to hear about the missing milk, we were away that week so were not there to do a final check. Good to hear you feel The Apple Store is just right for two and you liked the bedroom and the views.

The cottage exceeded our expectations in terms of location and picturesque setting and views. We had an incredibly relaxed week away from the rat race and used it as base to get out and visit lots of the surrounding areas. Worth stocking up on some supplies as you won't find anything in walking distance. We would definitely re-visit the apple store given the chance. Thank you for a lovely week

We found the Apple Store comfortable and well equipped for two people. It is well located for exploring the surrounding area, towns and NT properties, and the downs up by the famous White Horse are great for walking the dog whilst enjoying the view. We did think that the external photo is rather misleading however, as the cottage is very overlooked by the adjacent owners property and consequently there is not much privacy. It is for this reason that we have marked the location down.

The Apple store is great location for exploring Wiltshire. Places like Stonehenge and Salisbury are only 30-40 minutes away. There are lots of walks in the area too. Owners are very welcoming and our dag enjoyed the stay too.

The Apple store was the perfect base in which to spend a week visiting family. We were made to feel very welcome, and although compact it had everything required to be comfortable and self sufficient.
