    Confirmed guest, 2015-10-10
We are OAP's and arrived about Noon on the Saturday, the whole place being deserted although we had ready access to The Teviot apartment. One of a number in a large old house and the only one occupied. There was nobody at Reception and this being housed in a swimming pool building the whole of which was very uninviting and impossible to get access to the pool itself - all very confusing. The apartment became increasingly difficult to keep warm and the large lounge was fitted with only one night storage heater when it required two. When we made the booking there was no apparent advice that electricity would be an additional charge and only when received the booking confirmation did we note in small print at the end that "electricity is by meter reading at the end of the stay". There was a form in the apartment and we were expected to take meter readings ourselves at both the start and finish of our stay, calculate the electricity used on both the off-peak and normal tariffs, calculate the amount and leave cheque as remittance. The meters were housed in an under stair cupboard at the rear of this large house and were very difficult to both access read. The tariffs price rates were in our view extortionate. The manager appeared on the Monday morning and we met her as we were leaving the apartment at lunchtime ( I'm not sure that she would have enquired how we were ). I commented to her on the heating problem and she agreed it was a difficult apartment to keep warm, so she readily offered us a move to The Melrose apartment in an adjacent block which we accepted and moved into later that afternoon. This apartment proved to be very satisfactory for the remainder of our stay. We had no further contact from the manager although she was on site daytime Monday to Friday.
