Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Nestled in woodland between both of Cornwall’s coastlines, sits this delightful converted barn.

Equidistant from both of Cornwall’s spectacular coastlines and nestling in delightful woodland, these thoughtfully converted barns are set in sunny, pleasantly landscaped gardens, each with its own patio. Retaining all the character and charm of original structural features, including exposed beams and stone walls, they have been furnished in keeping with their rustic simplicity. Tawnawood has a first floor landing and a door to a balcony with wonderful valley views. Peacefully positioned on a private drive beyond the owner’s home, and accessed by a narrow country lane, they enjoy fine views across the valley towards National Trust Lanhydrock House and its formal gardens. Lanhydrock House is 1¼ miles away and features several cycle trails, including a gentle trail for families throughout its grounds and into bluebell woods. There is also cycle hire, free parking and a café. Beaches of both the north and south coasts are about 15 miles away, some popular and offering fishing, sailing and surfing, others small and secluded; the coastal path is a continuous drama of cliff and sea and sky. There is excellent walking in the surrounding area and cycling in Cardinham Woods with dedicated, scenic cycle trails for those wanting more of a challenge, and an excellent café for refreshments. Restormel Castle and Lostwithiel, both 4 miles. Bodmin, 3 miles, has shops, cycle hire, swimming-pool, sports centre, inns, restaurants and golf. Bodmin Steam Railway can be heard in the distance within the valley. Riding locally. Wadebridge and Camel Trail cycle hire 7 miles. Padstow 12 miles, Fowey 10 miles and the Eden Project 8 miles. Shops 3 miles.

Living/kitchen area with breakfast bar. 1 double bedroom. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Both properties: Electric heaters and electricity by meter reading. Bed linen included. Cot. High chair on request. Digital TV. DVD. Microwave. Shared utility room with washer/dryer and ‘fun’ table tennis. Patio and garden furniture. Shared garden. Shared barbecue. Parking. No smoking. Natural water supply from owner’s borehole.

Overall a very nice stay and a perfect place to take my girlfriend after I had spent 5 months away from her. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and made our first time staying in this kind of accommodation.

Enjoyed holiday very much. Nuthatch cottage had a good location for walks around Cardinham Woods with varying treks to enjoy. Found Bodmin a good central place to start journeys around Cornwall and Devon with plenty of interesting places to visit. Bodmin had a couple of suprises like Bodmin Jail and Bodmin and Wenford railway. Nuthatch Cottage it self was an enjoyable place to stay, clean tidy and comfortable.

Lovely location - very peaceful and scenic. Cottage was delightful although could have been cleaner - went to use the DVD but it was covered in dust and dog hair. I thought the duvet cover had come undone but the poppers had broken - it was then I noticed that the duvet was held together with duct tape! Good points were the location - well away from any noise. Bodmin is local town but currently in the process of redevelopment which made it difficult to navigate - went round in circles a few times trying to get out!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am sorry the DVD player had been missed by the cleaner; she should have made checks before leaving the cottage. With reference to the duvet, the previous occupant’s dog had scratched the bedding and worn a small hole in the duck down duvet so that feathers were migrating badly. This was not discovered until an hour before the present occupants were due so a makeshift repair had to be made as I did not have a spare one that week to replace it, as the cottages were all full that week. A new duck down duvet replaced the damaged one on the next changeover day.
