This traditional 18th century mid terraced holiday cottage is situated on the edge of the bustling Georgian market town of Cockermouth. Modernised but retaining cottage charm, the cosy accommodation is just a 5 minute walk from interesting shops, galleries, restaurants and visitor attractions. Cockermouth is close to the north west border of the Lake District National Park, making an ideal base for exploring the spectacular lakeland scenery. Keswick, 12 miles, Buttermere, 10 miles, and Whinlatter Forest and Bassenthwaite Lake, 3 miles, all an easy, scenic drive. Shops, pubs and restaurant 500 yards.

    The cottage was comfortable. There was a slight problem with the heating which was quickly sorted by the owner. Would return in the warmer months.

    A beautiful little cottage, very well equiped. Very good location with lots on the doorstep. We had a three night break and would definately stay there again.

    Small sweet cottage perfect forctwo- very well equiped. Ideal base for touring the lakes. Ideally situated for local resturants and pubs all within easy walking distance the cottage is in need of a little TLC in some areas but it did not spoil our visit. The owner was very pleasant and helpful when we contacted her.

    The cottage had everything we needed, to include clotheslines to freshen our clothes. It was very close to town, which made it possible to walk to the stores. At the same time, it was within easy driving distance of boat and steam train rides. The cottage definitely had an old-fashioned feel to it, even though everything was modern. My wife especially enjoyed the Jacuzzi tub

    Lovely little cottage, nice touches with complementary tea, milk and tea cakes. Information about the cottage and useful numbers/tips regarding appliances. Felt cosy and welcoming when returning from a long walk and the whirlpool bath was a real treat for tired legs. Only down was the garden tho pretty is a little overgrown so couldn't enjoy to its full potential.

    we had a great holiday cottage as a base which was ideal located and returning from our days out to this great little find just made our break complete..

    Good location to cockermouth town centre cottage itself charming but too much clutter,bathroom unfinished project sofas uncomfortable and too many signs everywhere stating rules too obtrusive

    Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments on your recent holiday at Tanners Cottage. I agree there are signs in the cottage which have been advised and approved by the agency, some of them are legally required. They will be reviewed to determine if there are any that can be removed. The bathroom is being refurbished, as outlined in the response to the review dated 18/8/16. The floor and shower cubicle have been re-tiled. The position of the toilet has been relocated to the adjacent wall, with the corner toilet being replaced with a new toilet. In 2018, the remainder of of the refurbishment will be completed, including the replacement of the sink and bath.
