We stayed in this cottage as I was working in Broughton and my husband and dog accompanied me. The cottage is in real need of an overall, there was a lot of dust around and the lampshades in all of the rooms were extremely dirty. it was problematic for my husband as he is 6ft 4ins so kept banging his head of lights and doors this is to be expected in old cottages. Overall the location is good although there is very little in Broughton to do. Would not stay here again unless it was updated.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feed back. We are very sorry that there are dusty lampshades at Tailors Cottage and our housekeeper will give all a thorough clean. We have had remedial work done in the old loft recently and I'm afraid it has obviously percolated down. It is frustrating to bang your head on doors and lights, particularly when it gives a birds eye view of cleaning deficiencies. Although it does say in the particulars that the cottage is a period one, we will draw attention to the ceilings being lower than modern ones. As for Broughton being dull, it is working little town where people live and not a tourist centre with expected entertainment. It has two excellent pubs, loads of wonderful walks and two good cafes.

We had a great short break at Tailors Cottage. Quaint is the best word to describe the cottage and it is very comfortable and homely. The village is amazing - if you are looking for a supermarket it isn't for you - if you are looking for 3 lovely pubs, 2 petrol stations and a family run grocers, butchers and bakers it is perfect.

An excellent cottage really quirky. Never stayed in a cottage on holiday before but would definitely do it again.

2nd time we have stopped here because we enjoyed it the first time and the excellent hostelry in the shape of the Manor Arms across the market place, warm welcome and first class ale. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped for all you need for a holiday. If there are any downsides, it would be the parking; there is no parking space, if you are lucky you can park outside the house although most of the week we had to park on the market place area which didn't help that my father struggles to walk far. The other thing is that you need a car; Broughton is not really near the popular parts of the lakes (Windermere, Kendal, etc) and the nearest town is around 30 mins away. but having been there before we knew that.

Really enjoyed staying at the cottage. We have been here before and will return. The village is like home from home.
