Petrockstowe village is the home to this traditional, detached house, with fields leading to the Tarka Trail, beaches at Woolacombe and Sandymouth easily accessible.

With parts dating from the 1350s this beautifully restored, detached holiday house can be found on the edge of the North Devon village of Petrockstowe. The charming exterior is matched by the well appointed, comfortable interior. Every effort has been made to retain the charm of a house of this age but also with modern conveniences required by discerning guests. There is a large landscaped garden with a pond and is ideal to either find a quiet corner or have a run around. There is also 25 acres of fields to use that lead down to the Tarka Trail which is great for cycling or walking. In the village there is a charming pub and playground, both within walking distance of the house. The house is ideally suited to explore the charming North Devon coast and countryside, there are stunning beaches at Woolacombe and Sandymouth. Enjoy a day out at Hartland and visit the lighthouse, Hartland Quay and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. If gardens are of interest the R.H.S Gardens at Rosemoor are a delight and there are numerous National Trust properties in the surrounding area to enjoy. The towns of Great Torrington and Bideford lie close by with most amenities, as is Bideford’s quay where visitors can book a trip to Lundy Island. Slightly further afield is the Dartmoor National Park. Beach lovers will delight in the wide sandy beaches, the nearest being the Blue Flag beach at Westward Ho! The Milky Way and The Big Sheep will fascinate the younger ones. There are several local pubs nearby, with the nearest in the village serving real ale and home cooked food. Shop 2 miles, pub 500 yards.

Loved our stay here. Very characterful yet comfy home (beds notably more comfortable than in most rented accommodation) and the under-floor heating kept us warm when coming back from cold wintery walks! Spacious but still cosy. We wanted a more remote location so we liked where it was – beaches, Tarka trail and pubs all within short driving distance. The local pub owners were very friendly and welcoming. Kitchen decently equipped but could do with a few more large pans to make catering for eight people easier. Some hand towels in the bathrooms would be useful too. We'd definitely recommend this property to others – we've been away for the new year four times and this is the nicest place we've stayed so far.

Loved the quirkiness and don't understand how people can criticise given what the place has to offer, lots of creaky floor boards and the wood burner was great. Martin

A lovely cottage in a peaceful location with gorgeous views. The owner was extremely helpful with good communication. If you like old buildings then you'll love the cottage as there's obviously been a lot of love and care lavished on it and unlike many period buildings these days, it still retains many of it's original features and character. Most importantly of all, not a 'feature wall' in site! The location is extremely central with many gardens and historic houses to visit, along with the fantastic North Devon coastline. We would certainly stay here again.

Excellent property in fantastic gardens just moments from the Tarka Trail. It is sympathetically restored with some lovely features, exceptionally homely but with plenty of space for the larger party. There is lots of space outside should you be lucky with the weather but ample room to spread out across the four reception rooms within and avoid getting under one another's feet. There is not much to do in the immediate vicinity but within a fairly short drive you can take your pick from a good variety of activities - Rosemoor RHS gardens, Dartington crystal and plenty of cycling / walking. Within 45 mins you are spoiled for choice with excellent beaches of all descriptions as well as discovering Clovelly and Appledore. Take your pick from the local pubs, they offer a great variety both in what they offer and how they offer it. Some great, some an experience to remember, some the source of a wry smile and polite excuse! We loved it and will be back given any excuse!
