Spacious and comfortable cottage with fabulous log fire, centrally heated and everything you need to live and cook in a holiday home. Even had a dog bed, cat scratcher and bowls for pets! Really nice touch ... breakfast things in fridge! A little quirky and dated decor. Some repairs needed, and although generally clean some things needed cleaning before use. Steep staircase leads to two double bedrooms and a room with bunk beds and a wardrobe which has plenty of children's toys in it. Bathroom has separate bath and shower. Great location, quiet with the most amazing views, fabulous walks and short drive to shops and tourist information. I personally would book again just for the peace and quiet and the friendly neighbours and great walks for my little dogs.

Cottage good points: location, views, character, comfy, well equipped, pretty, nice garden, welcome provisions. Bad points: tired, shabby, cluttered, clean upstairs but needed good spring clean downstairs, lights not working, windows stuck open or shut, loads of rubbish by the bins. Could be 5* with a refurb, wanted to buy it and do it up!

The cottage is very characterful and in a lovely location. The bathroom and kitchen were acceptably clean, and the linens and towels were all freshly laundered, but it is really in desperate need of a good spring clean. There were dusty surfaces in each of the bedrooms, huge cobwebs in the sun room and general grime around the windows. We are not very fussy so I dusted the bedroom myself and all-in-all we had a great time.

Lovely cottage and location, the cottage was dirty and needed thorough clean. Had to start holiday off by cleaning toilet and bathroom floor! owners had left breakfast items which was thoughtful but would have rather had clean cottage. Plenty of coal and wood for fires which was very good.

A quirky cottage that was warm and comfortable. The sun lounge was an added bonus. The village was friendly and both pubs were welcoming. The surrounding area is beautiful and there are lots of places to visit and many walks. An excellent week.

Having had a lovely holiday here last year, we decided to return this year. By the evening of our 1st night we realised the boiler wasn't working and so had no heating or hot water. The owners were away on holiday with no emergency contact number. On Sunday we tried to light the second wood burner, which proceeded to fill the house with smoke. We found where the cleaner lived the next day but she couldn't help either. We left a note in the owners house for when they returned on Tuesday, to which they called us in the evening. He booked for an engineer to visit Wednesday am, saying he was coming from Edinburgh. In fact he lived in the next village. We were told it was a nearly new boiler but is about 15yrs old and needs replacing due to leaks. The heating went off again during our second week but we managed to get it restarted. Also some of the kitchen cupboards were broken.

Cottage was lovely and in a fantastic location. We love the village. Cottage was very homely and comfortable except that the heating went off half way through our stay (ran out of oil?) and the owner had told us he was away, but we had no other emergency contact number. We called the owner and left a message in the hope that calls would be picked up, but we did not get a response. So we had no central heating and no hot water for several days. Thankfully there were logs and fuel for the log burner, so at least the living room was warm but it was disappointing to have no heating elsewhere and no hot water. We loved the pub across the road (The Crown) which actively welcomes dogs!!! We will certainly return to the village again.
