In a rural position within the peaceful hamlet of Hulme End, a central base for exploring much of the Derbyshire Dales.

Sycamore Farm is a charming, 18th-century, traditional, detached, limestone holiday cottage located in the picturesque hamlet of Hulme End, within the heart of the Peak District National Park. The historic market towns of Ashbourne, Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock are all within easy reach. Magnificent Chatsworth House and Gardens, Haddon Hall, Hardwick and Kedleston Hall are just a short drive as are Alton Towers, Gulliver’s Kingdom and Carsington Water, should you require a more exhilarating or energetic experience during your stay. The Peak District National Park is renowned for some of the best walking in England. The Manifold Valley Trail starts only a few yards from the farmhouse and runs to Waterhouses via Ecton, famous for its tin mines. The River Dove passes through many of the stunning dales including Milldale, Lathkilldale and Dove Dale. The Tissington Trail which runs from Ashbourne to Buxton is within 3 miles. Here, a show can be taken in at the opera house or stroll along the lovely Victorian pavilion and gardens. Antique and craft fairs together with a farmers’ market are often held here. Both the Manifold and Tissington Trail are great for cyclists and cycle hire is available. Visit the charming village of Castleton and take a boat ride through the caves to see where the Blue John stone is mined and made into jewellery and artefacts. Village shop 200 yards, country pub serving food 100 yards.

Beautiful cottage in stunning location. Really enjoyed our stay but there are a few minor issues with the property e.g. Blinds needed in one bedroom and one bathroom; shower leaks through kitchen ceiling; no hand soap in any bathroom on arrival which we feel is essential.

Had the most fantastic family holiday, we all enjoyed the cottage and location, grandparents and a nine year old boy with additional needs. Already planning a return visit... Cottage fab, local pub good and lots of places to visit all within 30 minutes drive! Chatsworth house a brilliant day out and Hartington a lovely local village.

We have visited Sycamore farm now 3 times and love it there. We plan on going back again next year. For us it ticks all the boxes as we just go to chill and decompress for our busy lives. It's great for our dogs and we come back refreshed.

This is a beautiful house and we loved it but it is let down by 4 things. First there is no sign on the house or gate and finding it in the dark is very hard! Second the downstairs wet room causes the whole bathroom to flood when the shower is used. third the second fridge does not work, which is not obvious for a while, and one tiny fridge is inadequate for 6 adults. Finally the glassware, cooking and baking pots are too small to feed a family of 6. Otherwise it is great!
