Description

This semi-detached, Grade II listed cottage with two en-suite bedrooms, makes the ideal getaway for couples or small families.

Sweet Pea Cottage is a charming Grade II listed Purbeck stone character cottage, that dates back to the early 1800s. This semi-detached property has been renovated and thoughtfully decorated using natural local materials such as Purbeck flagstones and lime mortar for the walls. The cottage is set in the private Encombe Estate within the delightful hamlet of Kingston, opposite the historic church, and just 100 yards away from the pretty local pub and restaurant which has a large garden boasting far reaching views over the countryside to Corfe Castle and beyond.
Sweet Pea Cottage is a pretty, comfortable and cosy home, making it an ideal getaway for couples or small families, with an extensive shared lawned garden, which offers distant views of grazing cattle. The cottage has been tastefully furnished and co-ordinated with soft colours, and has an open plan living space with a feature inglenook fireplace and wood burner. There are two sumptuous bedrooms which are en-suite and enjoy splendid views over the surrounding countryside. The owner provides Cath Kidston and The White Company bed linen and towels with Molton Brown shower products.
This is the ideal base for exploring the Dorset Heritage Coastline and countryside. There is a wealth of attractions nearby including the National Trust Corfe Castle, Arne Nature Reserve, Lulworth Castle, The Blue Pool, Lulworth Cove, Dorset Waterpark, the Jurassic Coast and the beaches at Studland, Swanage and Kimmeridge Bay. Further afield you will find Dulston Country Park, Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum, and Fossil Forest, which takes you back 135 million years. The market towns of Wareham and Dorchester are both within easy driving distance. Bournemouth and Poole are just 25 miles away. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

This is a lovely cottage we had a great time fantastic views. The only thing I thought was not good is the bathroom it would of been good if there was a shower. I had to go upstairs to my friends room AND ues that shower.

Loved the way the cottage was furnished, very high standed , everything you could need on a holiday. We did find the small bathroom upstairs challenging , but we were warned so not complaining. The kitchen area had everthing you needed but also rather small and some appliances difficult to use/reach .

A beautiful cottage & so well equipped.Despite hearing some noise from the adjacent property & no small freezer for ice,ice cream, freezer blocks etc(or did we just not find it?)we would definitely come back to stay.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your kind comments and I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Sweet Pea. I sincerely apologise for you not having the use of the freezer for your stay as it was in the outbuilding. Since your stay I have moved a small table top freezer in to the dining area. Thank you again for your helpful comments as this helps me improve future guests stay.

We had a great stay at Sweetpea cottage. A bit disappointed we had to go and buy “kindling wood” to get the log burner going.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Sincere apologies that you had to buy kindling wood for the log burner during your stay. I have today confirmed with my housekeeper that all guests arrive at Sweet Pea cottage with a full basket of logs and kindling wood for their use. Thank you for your kind comments.

The cottage is lovely and furnished to a very high standard. However, there a number of issues that detracted from our stay. The 2nd floor and particularly the shower room is so restricted in height as to challenge the use of this floor by adults. The sound insulation from the adjoining property is not good - at times we felt as if people were going to walk in on us and at other times had to turn music on to mask the noise from next door. The lack of delineation between neighbouring gardens would also raise an issue with dogs/ children in the summer. On a practical point - the lack of an ice-box or freezer is a real irritant, but the provision of a starter pack of ice-cubes in the fridge would help no end.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your feedback. The photos clearly illustrate the height of the 2nd floor bathroom and clearly shows the ceiling slopes, however we can add this to the details. We will also look to add a small table top freezer, thank you for suggesting it. I am really sorry about the the noise from from the neighbouring property. Whilst this is a shared garden as described in the property details, the boundaries are defined from the washing line in the centre up to the property. We have discussed with the neighbours about putting a fence down to define boundaries, we do however feel that would detract from open countryside views. Thank you for your comments and it helps improve the guest experience.

Sweet Pea cottage is a little bit of heaven in Dorset. Everything in the cottage is to a super high standard. It is beautifully decorated and furnished. My daughter commented it's like walking into a hug! You can't say more than that if you are looking for a delightful place to relax and rejuvenate, or to explore the amazing Jurassic coast and surrounding areas. The owner Helen has put so much thought into the cottage and it shows. I will definitely be going back and for longer next time.
