Our family enjoyed our stay at Swangate. Accommodation was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Ringwood town was nearby and all our needs were catered for.

This property was well presented and for guests who do not have dogs there is no smell of dogs whatsoever. I was worried about this as I am allergic to dogs and cats but it was a very nice house. Lovely garden and the owners helpful.

i have stayed in holiday cottages for over 40 years all over the uk, but must say swangate has been the very best in many ways, the cottage was very comfortable, very clean, and the conservatory was fantastic, and as we took our dog with us it was ideal, the garden was very tidy with dog proof fence's. the owner was lovely, and the cake etc which she left was yummy, we enjoyed it so much we've already booked for next year.

On the whole a nice property in a quiet pleasant location. Basically well equipped but lacked any instruction leaflets or manuals. Scatter rugs badly curled up at corners making them dangerous trip hazards. Kitchen could do with blinds or curtains as it became hot with sun beaming in the windows. Bath towels were very small, the smallest we have come across in any of the cottages we have stayed in! Refrigerator was excessively noisy and required shutting the kitchen door to moderate it and is damaged and chipped inside, which is a health hazard.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Many thanks for your favourable review of my holiday cottage Swangate. However, you have raised a few issues which I would like to address. Firstly, the towels at the cottage are bath towels and not bath sheets. In the ten years I have been running Swangate as a holiday let, I have never had any complaints about the size of the towels. I myself stay in many holiday lets and hotels and would expect to find the towels to be this size. There is one rug at the property and as you say, it is starting to curl at the edges. This rug will be removed and replaced this week. I agree that the fridge is a little noisy, but again have not received any complaints about it before. I intend to replace the fridge when the whole kitchen is upgraded shortly. In respect of the kitchen and it being very sunny, this is something that other holidaymakers comment on as a positive thing and enjoy the sunny aspect that the cottage affords. I am glad that overall you appear to have enjoyed your stay and have taken account of the issues that you have raised and I hope that you will consider Swangate as your holiday destination once again at some future date.

Swangate is a lovely well kept home with a large well maintained garden and we had no issues with the property at all. We had a lovely surprise on our arrival of an iced lemon cake which was very welcomed after such an awful journey to get there. As a family with teenagers we had a lovely holiday in this beautiful location. We spent several days site seeing and visiting local attractions and as the weather was great we took a picnic with us on most days so we could enjoy the forest on our way home. We enjoyed the banger racing and caravan demolition derby at Ringwood Raceway on the bank holiday Monday and even though it wasn't my cup of tea the rest of the family thoroughly enjoyed the motor museum with its Top Gear attraction. It was so nice to come back to a lovely home after long days out where we often used to sit in the conservatory and enjoy the garden. I would definitely recommend Swangate as a great place to stay.

A lovely spacious holiday cottage, albeit with a rather unusual layout in that one of the double bedrooms is accessed by steep paddle stairs and the conservatory and garden are accessed through one or other of the two downstairs bedrooms. The garden was totally secure for our two dogs and the conservatory was sunny and comfortable. Everything was clean and in good order. There are pleasant walks just across the road. We would go back.
