Description

Enjoy a family day out at Swanage steam railway or build sandcastles on the beach just 350 yards from this detached house.

This detached house which is finished to a very good standard sits conveniently just 250 yards from the town centre and 350 yards from the Blue Flag beach. In a slightly elevated position it offers distant views of the sea from all the front rooms. Within just a short walk you can be on the spectacular Dorset coastal path and Durlston Country Park with wonderful views of Anvil point lighthouse. Along the coast from Swanage is NT Studland with lovely coastline and good beaches, from here you can get the ferry across Poole harbour to Sandbanks. Nearby is the ever popular Monkey World and The Tank Museum which make great family days out. The market town of Wareham with its quayside is just a short drive away as is the RSPB nature reserve at Arne. Shops and pubs 150 yards.

Ground floor: Living/dining room with wooden floor/kitchen with tiled floor. Shower room with toilet. First floor: 3 bedrooms: 2 double, 1 twin. Bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and toilet (can also be used as an en-suite to one of double bedrooms).

Nice comfortable property, well equipped and nicely located in Swanage. However I had to clean the living room floor, that was obviously dirty going by the colour of our socks after walking around for a short time. Much better after cleaning. Secondly the upstairs toilet rim could also do with a clean. (Obviously noticable when laying in the bath)

On the whole very pleasant, the property could have been a lot cleaner, the beds were far too soft, very difficult to get a good nights sleep. Behind the tv and on top of the wardrobes was a lot of dust. The shower was a little small.

The house was warm comfortable and well equipped. My only reservation in the living is the fact there is no door to the lounge the whole ground floor is open giving no privacy. Televisions in the bedrooms would be nice

House was amazing light and bright with a lovely welcome package. The distant sea views were very distant and only visible from the bedrooms. It's also a gruelling walk back up the hill to the property after a day out on the train, bus or in the town, especially as I'm pregnant. Overall a lovely place to stay.

We had a very enjoyable holiday with excellent weather. The house is very well equipped and comfortable. The downside is the location with a steep hill into Swanage and it is for this reason we would not book again.

It was a lovely house and the owner had gone out of her way to welcome us. However, it was a fairly long walk to the seafront up and down quite steep hills which is why we would probably not book there again. It is a shame because everything else was very good.

very nice house but no car parks in town or pubs or eating out places fine if you are young but a lot of walking if you are older.

This holiday house was excellent! There was a tray of essentials in the kitchen....new packets of tea, coffee, sugar, cookies and a bottle of wine! Even fresh milk in the fridge. We were very impressed. The house was perfectly clean and the beds very comfortable with all white bed linen. The instruction and information packs were useful. We were a family party of 6 adults ages 27-65 and we were all impressed. The hill is steep but short and the school was not a problem at all. Just in case it helps anyone else we had 3 cars on the drive without difficulty (fiesta size) but there is plenty of parking across the road anyway. Great to have Sky TV for the cricket. Good to have a spare set of keys. Brief visit from the owner first morning reassuring and not at all intrusive.

Although the cottage was nicely placed in Swanage, the fact that it was uphill(considerably) from the town, always meant a hard slog back to the cottage. We are quite fit but still found it a real drag.It could be a problem for others.

A good family house with excellent facilities and thought the welcoming pack of drinks and biscuits etc very good. A good location and very easy to get into swanage although the hill going back can be steep pushing a pushchair! Plenty of space but would like to see a door put on door into living room to give a bit more privacy.

The house was ideally placed for exploring the local area on foot or by car. Only possible drawback was the proximity of a school.

As a family of mixed ages we found Swan Upping to be ideal for us. As a family of mixed ages, from 2 years to 72 years, we found the house ideal.
