If you are looking for great walks, getting right up close to nature, warm cosy nights with a log fire in a cute little barn and the occassional visit to the pub about 25 minutes walk away - then this is perfect for you. We went from Firday night to Sunday. On arrival we were so unprepared. We had no food at all. We didnt realise there was no shop nearby. Cynthia, the owner of the barn was so lovely. She drove to the shops for us, with a shopping list we gave here and bought everything we needed. That was so kind. She also gave us a massive torch, meaning we could walk the country road to the beautiful Ash Tree Pub in the nearby village of Brownbread, in the dark on the country roads. She did offer to drive us and fetch us, but we like the idea of walking home under the stars. The pub is excellent. Could rival any of the great gastropubs in london. On saturday, Cynthia gave us a map of a 6.5 mile circular walk through the countryside, which was stunning!! We took our time, got lost a few time and after 6 hours of walking (with lunch at the pub in the middle) we finally arrived home, settled in front of the fire with a nice glass of red. What a lovely relaxing getaway only an hour from london.

A excellent holiday cottage, very clean and homely. The owners Cynthia & Chris very welcoming and great hosts. Cottage is situated in a quiet rural location ideal for a peaceful stay, but only about 10 mins by car to Battle and 20 mins by car to Hastings. overall a great place to stay.

After our original holiday accommodation cancelled our booking very late in the day, we had to quickly find an alternative and came across this little gem. Thank goodness the original people cancelled! Fantastic week spent at swallows barn. Hard to find any negatives; lovely owners, clean, a well equipped kitchen, beautiful peaceful setting, abundance of wildlife and enjoyment watching the owners' animals. Our daughter had a lot of fun interacting with the goats and pigs. It was a really relaxing week. Only slight niggle was the small bedrooms, but that really is being picky and didn't spoil our stay. We would definitely come back again....don't want to recommend as we'd like to keep this property a secret, but we would, of course recommend!

A beautifully maintained holiday home in wonderful, peaceful setting. Owners are friendly and so helpful. The only thing to be aware of is the small bedrooms and this is made clear to you at the very outset so we didn't feel mislead.

This was a fantastic holiday house for a weekend break. Cynthia and her husband were very friendly and welcoming. We were given a delicious welcome pack of cakes, eggs and apple juice. Our children loved exploring on the grounds, stroking the goats, swinging on the tyre swing and visiting the chickens. Thanks for a great stay.

Fantastic! Exceeded our expectations. Rooms were a little tiny but the lounge with the heater was absolutely brilliant and waking up to the sheep and horses outside was serene. Warm and toasty all the way through.
