Delightful former barn with stunning views over the Esk Valley

Swallow Cottage is nestled in the beautiful Esk Valley with stunning views over Westerdale and open countryside. For us as a couple with an 11 year old beagle this cottage had everything we could have wanted and more. The isolated location but a very short drive away from shops/pubs etc made for the perfect get away. As walkers - there was so much to do from the door that took us in so many directions, with great scenery where ever we went. The setting was just stunning and we did not have good weather in the week we stayed - but it was still an amazing outlook. The cottage itself was just perfect. A real home from home where the owners have gone to so much trouble making the cottage very comfortable. The facilities in the cottage - there was nothing that had been overlooked. The fixtures and fittings must be commented on as there was a feel of luxury in the cottage when it came to all aspects - inside and outside the property. Dog friendly garden - perfect. The donkeys in the paddock were a real bonus. This is not just a business for the owners it is a real labour of love - and it really shows. Helen - the owner was on hand if we needed assistance with anything. We go on cottage holidays several times a year and this is one of the best we have stayed for so many reasons. We will be back!

A superb holiday cottage and perfect for a quiet, relaxing getaway. Swallow Cottage is beautiful and clearly loved by it's owners as well as us. A lot of thought has gone into making sure that their guests are comfortable and have everything they need. Every detail has been carefully attended to. Helen and Dave are very welcoming but unobtrusive hosts. The property is very spacious and set in a gorgeous location looking out onto the Yorkshire Moors. The kitchen is very well equipped and, if you are a coffee lover, you will really love this room. There is a stunning lounge with a really comfortable feel. The addition of the high ceiling gives a wonderful spacious atmosphere. There is even a balcony from which you can survey your family. The upstairs facilities are excellent too with two lovely bedrooms and two very well appointed bathroom/shower rooms. There are many imaginative, artistic touches throughout and everything is immaculately clean. The small menagerie of assorted animals is an absolute delight and after a couple of hours you will feel like you have gained some new pets. Don't worry about your own dog, as these animals are perfectly used to living around them. There is plenty of space to park your car close to the front door. The cottage is in a secluded area but there is a local convenience store a few minutes drive away and larger towns such as Whitby and Pickering can easily be reached in around 30 minutes. We had a wonderful stay and found the whole ambience totally relaxing and it is certainly a cottage to which we will be returning!
