Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s birthplace, is a couple of miles from this detached cottage, with beams and oak floors.

Ideal touring base

Located just a couple of miles outside Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, these modern, detached holiday properties provide the perfect base from which to explore the sights of this inviting town. There is the opportunity to visit Shakespeare’s birthplace, Nash’s House, Mary Arden’s Farm, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and the world renowned Royal Shakespeare Theatre which has been completely refurbished. Guided bus tours and boat trips along the magnificent River Avon are very popular, as are the many tea shops, cafés and restaurants that line the river bank. Historic Warwick, with its famous castle and grounds, and Leamington Spa with its chic cafés, bistros and boutiques are all within a very short drive. While the Cotswolds, celebrated for honey-coloured villages and rolling hills, are easily accessible. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

    lovely, clean, cosy and home from home,is excellent for two couples sharing. the layout of the bedrooms is especially well planned.all facilities from bathroom and kitchen excellent,would stay at this property again.

    Directions to the property are ambiguous, Swallow Barn sign not visible from the road. Brambles growing in the plant tub by the front door. Gravelled path to the property is a track! Front door sticking as well as the bathroom door which was causing damage to the hard wood flooring. No 5 foot bed as advertised, neither was there a telephone to accept incoming calls as advertised. Poor selection of kitchen utensils etc. No room for storing food. No local information such as Doctors and the like. Tourist information leaflets some as old as 2011. No instructions for the heating. Setting the thermostat on low still caused the heating to switch on at different times during the night. Didn't expect a 'Welcome Pack' such as some milk etc, but it's the first cottage we've used where there hasn't been one.

    The only thing wrong with the accommodation was the unacceptable roughness of the track leading to the barn. Something needs to be done about it. Luckily it was dry whilst we were there and not wet as the track would have been even worse and muddy.

    We liked the proximity to Stratford while still being in a peaceful surrounding. The regular bus service was also a fab bonus we weren't aware of before arriving
