In a setting of stunning natural beauty in the Exmoor National Park, with indoor heated swimming pool, Triscombe Farm Country Cottages are a combination of 19th century cottages and skilful conversions from existing farm buildings. Leisure facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, games room (pool table and table tennis) and all-weather tennis court (please bring your own racquets and balls). Natural water is provided from our own spring. With unspoilt countryside all around, and reached by a long, sweeping driveway, the country cottages are nestling in a sheltered, wooded valley overlooking the River Quarme. Each of the cottages has been individually styled and equipped to offer comfortable holiday accommodation and are all located at the heart of the farm (wellies advisable during wet weather).
The cottages make the perfect base for holidays at any time of the year. A stream cascades through the hillside garden, there is ample space in which to sit and relax, or enjoy a family picnic or barbecue. Spectacular views across the valley to Dunkery Beacon unfold as you wander around. Badgers, buzzards, foxes, red deer and an abundance of birdlife can often be seen, so don’t forget your binoculars. Bracken Cottage ref: B5817, Juniper ref: 28060 and Primrose Cottage ref: 30027 are ground floor cottages, Rose Cottage ref: B5810 is believed to be the original farmhouse and Whortleberry Cottage ref: 29890 a skillful conversion has a large living room, ideal for family get togethers, Coachman’s Cottage ref: B5813 is a spacious original cottage and Garden Cottage ref: B5812 and Orchard Cottage ref: B5811 once polo pony stables with flats above are ‘upside down’ cottages with farmland views. Stream Cottage ref: 27550 is the original farm manager’s cottage.

From Triscombe Farm you can explore the magic of Exmoor, an area of wild natural beauty, inhabited by native ponies and red deer. Exmoor Safaris take you right into the heart of this area of heather clad moors, sheltered wooded combes, pretty villages with thatched cottages and ancient packhorse bridges. The National Park rangers provide guided walks.
A few miles from Triscombe is Exmoor’s spectacular, breathtaking and beautiful northern coast, the highest in Britain, with sheltered bays and where steep cliffs plunge into the sea. You can enjoy fantastic coastal walks here along the cliff top coastal path, with dramatic views of the coastline and out to sea. From Dunkery Beacon (1707ft) there are panoramic views to Wales, Dartmoor and beyond. Minehead is only 10 miles away with a beach, Butlin’s, harbour and variety of pubs and restaurants, as well as the fantastic famous West Somerset steam railway. Historic Dunster (National Trust castle) is one of the prettiest villages on Exmoor. Porlock and Dulverton offer interesting shops and tea shops where you can enjoy a traditional Somerset cream tea. There are many places to visit locally including Knightshayes Court, a splendid Victorian house at Tiverton.
Bucket and spade, saddle and bridle, boots and backpack, fishing rod and boat, picnic hamper and driving gloves, mountain bike and water bottle - you decide what you make of Exmoor,"Still England but another World". There is so much to do locally, the owners hope to welcome you back time and time again.

Little farm nestled in the hills. It was very quiet and very scenic. If one is looking to get away from it all.... this is the place to go. We went on a jeep Safari which met us in town only 5 mins away and there was a restaurant/pub in town (we didn't go to). The only downside was that everything was at least a 20 min winding, small road trip away....grocery store, restaurants, tourist stops.

A lovely setting, clean cottage. Access is up a very steep, narrow drive. Be aware that electricity is charged to you by the unit used. We spent more than we would have liked during our 4 days in February due to very cold weather and poor single glazed windows.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; As the guest says, Triscombe is a lovely setting, being in a valley just off the main A396 in Exmoor National Park. Electricity is charged as advertised. Sadly the ordered new double glazing hadn't been delivered to the window company in time for Feb 1/2 term but was installed before Easter. Stream has also had a new dining room table & chairs, new furniture in the sitting room and double mattress replaced this Spring as part of our continual improvement programme.

Lovely location right in the middle of Exmoor. The cottages would have been lovely years ago but everything is really tired. The double bed in Stream Cottage was unbelievably squeaky sounding like a colony of mice at the slightest movement. Turns out almost all the bolts were loose. Alan tightened them up, but it was probably the worst few nights sleep we've ever had. I can't talk for the other cottages. The pool was great fun. Read the small print - electricity is charged for separately.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; In our guest information guide, we ask that if there are any issues, to let us know immediately. This was not done. As far as we were aware, there was not a problem with the bed on arrival day. The accommodation has been redecorated this year, and the photographs on the website are current and accurately represent the facilities and decor of the Cottage. A brand new cooker has also been installed. Here at Triscombe, we have a policy of continual upgrading and improvement.

Lovely place to stay! Very peaceful. Beautiful gardens and scenery. We loved the indoor pool and made great use of it, it was so lovely and clean. Good games room and laundry room. Didn't get to play tennis as we didn't fit it in. Central to a lot of places, Dunster, Minehead, Tiverton were you can get a train to go further south at a brilliant price. Really loved it and hope to return soon.
