Surrounded by glorious rolling countryside, this delightful cottage provides an idyllic retreat to relax.

Close to Dartmoor National Park

Situated in glorious rolling countryside on a farm on the border between Devon and Cornwall, this delightful, 18th-century, converted stone barn provides an idyllic retreat where you can relax, get away from it all and recharge your batteries. The pretty lawned garden is the ideal spot for a summer BBQ or to relax with a good book. It has retained much of its original charm with exposed wooden beams and it is furnished and equipped to a good standard. A perfect location to explore the beauty of both Devon and Cornwall. There are many superb walks and cycle tracks locally, whilst the wild beauty of the Dartmoor National Park is just 7 miles. The popular resort of Bude and the breathtaking north Cornish coast lies just 20 miles away and has an excellent range of shops, restaurants and three lovely sandy beaches. Historic Launceston, the ancient capital of Cornwall, is just 9 miles with its castle ruin, steam railway, market town, shops, restaurants and supermarket. Nearby Roadford Lake offers coarse and trout fishing, sailing, lovely dog friendly lakeside walks, picnic areas and watersports. Golf, tennis and riding are all available locally and the famous Eden Project is within easy reach, as are many other family attractions including Tamar Otter Sanctuary and Newquay Zoo, making this an ideal holiday location for all ages. Shop and pub serving food 1.5 miles.

Lovely cottage and great base, but 7 miles to nearest shop! The owners are lovely and very helpful. The kids loved the garden and it was very quiet. Would recommend it to anyone.

There are some things that are great about this cottage but then some things that are a deal breaker for us. We stayed here for Christmas and the cottage was the perfect size and had all the mod cons for Christmas dinner. The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed to cook. The kitchen table was the perfect size. The living room was spacious and comfortable. As we were four people, we appreciated the bedrooms on the lower level to separate them out and give privacy. The location was very rural and maybe we would have preferred to be nearer a village but we knew this before booking. // However the main thing I want to call to your attention is that this cottage is advertised as having internet/wi-fi access when it does not. Only after you book do you get an email saying something like internet access cannot be guaranteed due to the company. When we got to the cottage, we discovered it did not have a router at all, it had some contraption I've never seen called an 'extender' which must be linked to the owner's house some ways away. Well, it never worked over our 4 nights there. As we're in the middle of nowhere we also had no mobile reception. We were unable to plan our trips around Dartmoor/Cornwall/Devon and see what was open or closed, what people recommended, etc as we could not get online. This was incredibly frustrating and we ended up taking chances on things only to find them closed. We know we missed a lot and we wouldn't have if we'd have proper internet access at the cottage. When you're in the middle of nowhere with no mobile reception, you NEED internet access, it's not a 'nice to have' thing.
