Description

Great for beach lovers, just yards from the sea, beach and sand dunes, also ideal for touring East Sussex.

This unique holiday cottage is set just yards from the sea and has direct access to the Blue Flag award-winning beach via steps from its enclosed terrace. Once belonging to the coastguards, it has been thoughtfully styled in a mix of old and new and commands stunning views of the sea from the master bedroom. Ideal for couples or families seeking sea, sun and sand, this is a superb base for a seaside holiday with plenty of opportunities for swimming, building sandcastles or enjoying a stroll along the beach which stretches for 7 miles. For the more energetic, kite surfing is a popular pastime on a windy day. In the winter, the beach takes on a charm of its own and you can watch the waves crashing on the sand from the comfort of the first floor sun lounge. This is a popular film location which has been used many times and occasionally you can spot a camera crew on the beach. This is the only sand dune system in East Sussex and is a valuable habitat for many plants and animals. Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and Dungeness are also good for bird-watching. The medieval cobbled town of Rye is close by, famous for its smuggling heritage with some interesting shops, markets and galleries to explore. Hastings is 12 miles away with its Norman castle and museums. Should you ever tire of the beach, a short drive takes you to National Trust houses and gardens. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. Sun room with single bed (2ft 6in for child) and French doors. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet. Open-tread stairs to first floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double with sun room, 1 twin.

Electric woodburner in living room included. Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. Freeview TV. DVD. CD. iPod dock. Electric cooker (double oven). Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Enclosed terrace with furniture. Gas barbecue (available May - September). Car park 20 yards (1 permit provided). Welcome pack. Good to be so close to the sea, but general area a bit run down.

This was our 2nd stay here and like the first one it was just as perfect. It is ideal for children and adults alike with the beach literally just outside your door, can't fault the accommodation, the facilities or the location, will definitely stay here again.😍

This was our fifth visit to Stowaway because we find it absolutely perfect as a holiday destination for the summer.

Amazing location and very comfortable furniture but too much unnecessary equipment in the tiny kitchen, cobwebs hanging from the picture frames and dusting didn't appear to have been done. Disappointed as we had a lovely holiday here 14 months ago.

Returned visit was just as fab as the first. We find stowaway a perfect family holiday in the UK. We have stayed June and September and both times had great British weather. Already organising next years holiday dates to book again. Great for a family with two children under 3!

We had an amazing time here. Just the fact that you can wake up with the sound of the ocean and open the door and step unto the beach is just a dream come true. The cottage was clean and week equipped. There were even games, cd's, books and beach toys. The only thing that was a little less amazing was the water pressure when you're in the shower. It's a small stream, just enough to get clean and stay warm. Other than that the cottage feels like a cozy home with great paintings, lots of space and don't forget an ocean that changes every hour with the tides. One moment it's a minute away and few hours later it's a 15 minute walk to reach the waves. Very exciting!

Fantastic holiday even after storm Katy. Beautiful well equipped cottage. We enjoyed the Easter themed welcome pack, it was a thoughtful bonus to our break. We hope to visit again. Thank you

Great Location, Friendly Contact, but...improve cleanliness, Lock AT Frontdoor was a nightmare, Owner has promised to solve but nothing has happened.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Stowaway it had everything we needed. Location is brilliant . The biggest issue we had was the door lock sometimes it took several minutes to get in . We do understand that sand is a problem but it did put a dampener on things.

Stowaway was exactly what we were looking for and we just loved the location, right on the beach. The views from the bedroom window are so beautiful. Seeing someone breaking in a horse on the sands on Boxing Day with the waves crashing in behind was magical. Yes, the sand does get into the house, but who cares? Our only hitch was with the door lock - our key broke in it, but the extremely helpful neighbour extracted the end, and the equally helpful and friendly cleaner came and let us in. Nice kitchen, too, and one that you actually enjoy cooking in.
