The medieval cobbled town of Rye is close by, famous for its smuggling heritage with some interesting shops, markets and galleries to explore. We had an amazing time here. Just the fact that you can wake up with the sound of the ocean and open the door and step unto the beach is just a dream come true. The cottage was clean and week equipped. There were even games, cd's, books and beach toys. The only thing that was a little less amazing was the water pressure when you're in the shower. It's a small stream, just enough to get clean and stay warm. Other than that the cottage feels like a cozy home with great paintings, lots of space and don't forget an ocean that changes every hour with the tides. One moment it's a minute away and few hours later it's a 15 minute walk to reach the waves. Very exciting!

Fantastic holiday even after storm Katy. Beautiful well equipped cottage. We enjoyed the Easter themed welcome pack, it was a thoughtful bonus to our break. We hope to visit again. Thank you

Great Location, Friendly Contact, but...improve cleanliness, Lock AT Frontdoor was a nightmare, Owner has promised to solve but nothing has happened.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Stowaway it had everything we needed. Location is brilliant . The biggest issue we had was the door lock sometimes it took several minutes to get in . We do understand that sand is a problem but it did put a dampener on things.

Stowaway was exactly what we were looking for and we just loved the location, right on the beach. The views from the bedroom window are so beautiful. Seeing someone breaking in a horse on the sands on Boxing Day with the waves crashing in behind was magical. Yes, the sand does get into the house, but who cares? Our only hitch was with the door lock - our key broke in it, but the extremely helpful neighbour extracted the end, and the equally helpful and friendly cleaner came and let us in. Nice kitchen, too, and one that you actually enjoy cooking in.

The location of this property is pretty spectacular as it is directly on the beach. However there can be a downside to this as we weren't lucky with the weather so it was a cold, very windy week for us and we were lashed with sand. The location may be perfect in different weather. We found the property itself comfortable upstairs in the bedrooms. The downstairs seemed to be a strange mixture of things that didn't match and weren't essential, lots of bits and pieces and purely decorative things, not really appropriate for a family with a toddler. When we arrived the cot we had asked for hadn't been put up, we struggled for awhile to get it up and couldn't, so we called the numbers provided, no-one responded. The highchair hadn't been cleaned from the last family who had used it. There was some problem with ants for previous guests and this had been treated with ant powder on the floor in the kitchen and living areas. Ant powder is toxic to a toddler so we were surprised this had been left on the floor. However we enjoyed our day trips to Hastings and Rye which are easily accessible by bus/car.

You can't get closer to the beach than this and the property is nicely presented inside, well kitted out and lots of option extras. The first floor sun room is a wonderful place to watch the sea and shipping. Not sure I'd love it so much in the high season, but guess this would be an ideal place for families with young children.

Great location for the kids and nice to have the private beach area. Local shops were poorly stocked considering it was height of season. A little limited for adults in the evening unless you go into Rye.

We had an excellent stay at Stowaway. Of the cottages available in this row, and we have stayed in 3, stowaway is the best.
