Description

A tastefully converted farm building enjoying a rural location at the northern end of Lake Ullswater. Excellent access to attractions on the lake.

Minutes from Lake Ullswater

Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.

Ideally located on a farm just north of Pooley Bridge, not far from Penrith and various food shops etc. Flowers and cakes on arrival to welcome us. Easy access to lovely walks, lakes and local attractions, not least of all Ullswater and the new path around it - easily combined with the steamer. The cottage is peaceful and has lovely views across fields to the fells and mountains. The description provided matches what is there. Sofas and beds are comfortable and we enjoyed a log fire most evenings. It was so welcoming to return to at the end of a day's walking - we found the utility area very useful for washing and drying, and cleaning boots (also a purpose built dog shower if you had a dog!). Owners friendly and helpful if needed but you can be totally independent as well. Good to see a working farm which has cattle, sheep and even a few chickens for those fresh eggs. We will return!

Fantastic stay on a welcoming, family friendly working farm. The hosts were extremely welcoming and our 18 month old had great fun seeing the animals and having a go in the tractor

Overall just lovely. We had a nice welcome with some home made Carrot Cake and when we left we were sent a lovely card, great touches. The conversion of the barn into three cottages has been done really well, with the wood burning stove adding that extra snug feeling at night . We loved every aspect of our holiday, including the accommodation and will be coming back to the Lake District next Xmas. If you are tall just remember to duck to not hit the beam in the main bedroom.
