This was a lovely cottage to stay in for two weeks for our Ruby Wedding anniversary. The owner of the cottage, Jay, was very kind and helpful during our stay. Everything was catered for and she gave us a very warm welcome. Stoke and the surrounding area was beautiful with very rugged, captivating scenery, enjoyed on our many walks. Plenty to do, and plenty of places to visit.

The cottage needed a good cleandust and cobwebs every where taps in kitchen you had a job turning on and off and I wouldn't say the garden was landscaped

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your feedback, this is the first time we have had a comment regarding cleanliness. We are onsite, as wasn’t made aware of any issues during your stay. If we had been made aware, we would have come along to rectify any problems you may have had. I refer back to the previous Reevoo comments on the property regarding cleanliness, and I reiterate we have never had any problems. Regarding the taps, also in this case, we were never made aware there was an issue, again we could have rectified this quite easily for you.

The cottage was lovely but we found the bed uncomfortable. The wifi was intermittent but that did not spoil our break, however it may be important to those who want it. The host was lovely and couldn't do enough for us, we even had a welcome tray with homemade cake! The view of the sea was great and it was lovely and peaceful. There's a wide variety of wildlife that frequents the garden and the birds are lovely to watch. We had a great break.

We found the holiday cottage relaxing and enjoyable. The owner was friendly and welcoming. The setting was very rural but well placed for outdoor activities such as walks along the sea which can be easily done from the cottage. Inevitably therefore you have to travel a bit further for shopping (such as in Bideford). The cottage is well equipped, well maintained and very clean and the garden is impressive.

A beautiful well looked after cottage with fantastic views of the sea and valley from the lounge and garden. Lots of wildlife to see including "Bertie" the badger who comes to be fed at between 10 and 11 at night. He particularly likes peanut butter sandwiches. At the bottom of the valley is the cottage used in the filming of the "night manager" this can be accessed via Hartland Abbey or the public footpath just outside Stoke Lodge. Jay is a wonderful host who cannot do enough for you. Would thoroughly recommend this property. Will be back again.

A lovely house in an idyllic setting, with abundant wildlife including a visiting badger, nightingales, owls and many other birds. A ten minute walk takes one to the coastal path, with wonderful views where you could walk for hours, if fit enough. Clear skies at night and no light pollution make for excellent star gazing. We all enjoyed our week at Stoke Lodge and would recommend it, providing local shops are not one of your major requirements. The nearest towns, are Bude or Bideford, both are around 16 miles away and once you reach the main "A" road travelling to any of the north Devon or Cornwall resorts is easy. The mobile phone signal was, but the Wi-Fi signal in the cottage is weak, to none existent at times.
