The Station House is in a lovely setting set in a big, quiet, relaxing garden with outdoor sitting/eating space. Sallie and Clive, the owners, were very helpful throughout our week's stay. The cottage (Allerston) was spotlessly clean, comfortable, well equipped, everything worked well including the wi-fi. There was plenty of storage space for 2 people. The laundry was clean, spacious and well equipped. There was an information book in the cottage with copies of all the safety certificates etc. The cricket pitch was being prepared for a match whilst we were there but our stay ended a couple of days before the match! The village is lovely so do have a walk around, look at the stream the pond and visit the lovely church where Wordsworth was married. We borrowed the village trail book from the church which contained interesting and detailed historical information. The butcher's shop is a short walk from the house and sells excellent pies, as well as locally sourced meat and vegetables. The location of the house is good as it is away from the bustle of the coast but the coast, York and the moors are all very accessible and within a short drive. We visited Staithes, Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough, Robin Hood's Bay and Flamborough Head. We recommend a visit to the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs where we saw cctv footage of nesting birds. We also walked part of the Cleveland Way. There are free, good quality information leaflets in the tourist offices. For food and other shopping: Tesco, Aldi and Sainsbury's are quite close together in Scarborough. We both enjoyed our very relaxing stay at Station House, would go back there again and would recommend it to others.
