In superb locations and beautiful settings. Cottages4you gives you a fantastic range of hand-picked properties with quality you can rely on.

A three-storey cottage in the heart of the picture-postcard village of Bourton-on-the-Water within short walking distance of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Oozing with charm and character, this warm and welcoming, terraced holiday home is an ideal base from which to explore the Cotswolds. Located within the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water, known locally as ’the Venice of the Cotswolds’, Station Cottage is just seconds from the high street and all the attractions that this popular Cotswold village has to offer.

This early 18th century, Grade II listed cottage has been restored to provide all the creature comforts of a home away from home. To the front of the property there is a small courtyard garden (please note, there is no space to the rear of the property), ideal for enjoying a glass of wine in the summer. Further outdoor space can be found at the village green, which sits alongside the beautiful River Windrush and is less than 110 yards from the front door of the cottage). The living room is comfortably furnished, with seating for 4 adults and has a 40" 3D Smart TV, Playstation 3 and a Bluetooth music dock. The dining area area has an extendable oak dining table with four leather chairs. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the mod-cons (including dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and DAB radio). Both bedrooms have been furnished to a very good standard, and for that extra comfort, include ’hotel collection’ bedding and towels, and an iPod dock can be found in the master bedroom. A tablet device is also available for guest use.

Bordered by Stow-on-the-Wold to the north, Northleach to the south, The Rissingtons to the east and The Slaughters to the west, Bourton-on-the-Water sits in the heart of the Cotwolds. One of the more distinctive, vibrant and busy Cotswold villages, the River Windrush runs through Bourton and is straddled by a series of low, elegant, stone bridges and bordered by shaded greens, providing the perfect picnic spot. Children can enjoy a spot of river paddling whilst adults admire the handsome Cotswold architecture.
Every August Bank Holiday, there is a football match played in the river, often drenching both the players and the spectators alike!

Station Cottage sits just seconds off the main thoroughfare so you can mooch along the high street in search of the perfect holiday memento, or simply enjoy delicious local produce in one of the many local eateries. It’s the perfect spot for a weekend getaway but there’s heaps to do if you’re tempted to linger in this idyllic spot.

With its model village, Birdland Park and Gardens, the Cotswolds Perfumery and a collection of vintage cars and antique toys literally on the doorstep, you don’t need a car to keep the whole family entertained. Within easy striking distance you will find a host of well known Cotswold attractions including Hidcote Manor, Snowshill Manor, Bourton House, Sezincote, Kiftsgate Court and Batsford Aboretum.

It goes without saying that there’s some stunning walking country and at Station Cottage, your four legged friend can enjoy it all too. Shops 25 yards, pubs and restaurants 110 yards.

The cottage was delightful, well appointed and right in the main part of Bourton on the Water. The accommodation worked well for four of us, although the stairs to the second floor bedroom were particularly steep and needed to be approached with caution! The lack of on-site parking turned out to be more manageable and we anticipated but did involve some walking to get free parking not constrained by time limits. It was just off the pretty main street and proved to be very handy for relaxing walks along the river first thing in the morning, with a stop at the bakery for fresh bread to take back for breakfast. It also had any number of good places to eat (or take away) in the evening without involving a drive. All in all, it was an excellent place for a holiday.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your lovely comments. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water. The local bakery is certainly a great place to stop for fresh bread! As noted in our property description, the stairs between the first and second floor, whilst characteristic of a Grade II listed early 18th century cottage, are a little steep and there is restricted headroom towards the top of the stairs which may make this bedroom unsuitable for those with limited mobility or carrying babies or small children. We hope to see you again.

This is a superb cottage and although we stayed for a fortnight, we did not run out of places to visit. Out of all the Cotswalds villages, we found Bourton-on-the-Water to be the most picturesque which is quite an achievement given the wonderful local scenery. The cottage itself is in a perfect location in terms of the local shops. The only slight issue is lack of parking but the owners manual provides alternative strategies proving very useful. There was a welcome pack in tems of milk and a cake which is a nice touch. The owner also called before hand and he could not have been more welcoming. Finally, the restaurant recommendations were as good as promised. Overall, a magical break.

We stopped at this lovely cottage for 5 days over Christmas. Myself my husband and 2 grown up children. We absolutely loved our stay, it was very cosy, spotlessly clean and comfortable, the owners put us a real xmas tree with lights up in the lounge and left us a welcome hamper which was most appreciated. Only slight problem was the double bed which our children had to share, would've been better if there were twin beds but we managed for 5 days. Would definitely stop again, was an excellent location too!

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your review and lovely feedback. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your Christmas visit to the Cotswolds and that everything was to your satisfaction. Whilst the vast majority of our guests are couples, we have taken on board your feedback regarding the fact that the cottage is furnished with one king size and one double bed. In order to allow future guests (particularly those with children) more flexibility we have now also provided a single folding guest bed with dual density airflow mattress. This has been placed under the double bed in the second floor bedroom. We hope to see you again!

A lovely cottage, beautifully furnished, comfortable and warm, with the high street just around the corner. Could not fault it. The owners have though of everything. Wished it had a bit more garden, but our little dog was happy going out for walks by the river, so that compensated for it.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are delighted that you and your four legged friend enjoyed your recent stay at Station Cottage. We sincerely hope to welcome you again soon.

we loved the cottage but it was extremely noisy with traffic albeit that we appreciated the closeness to village centre. There was a meeting up of bikers on the Sunday which resulted in excruciating noise levels. given we had an infant in our party sleep times were impossible which resulted in a very unsettled child - all were problems related to circumstances rather than faults with the cottage, though I really think some form of double glazing would have made a vast difference. our reason for non return would be the upper bedroom for which you describe access as difficult for anyone with limited mobility which I think was very 'down played'. The room is virtually impossible to access safely with even minor limited mobility as in age but my daughter a young slim very fit young woman of 32 found it extremely difficult to manage safely when carrying her baby, yet this was the only option since we couldn't manage the stairs under such a low ceiling and protruding wall at the top. As I said - very brief reference to this in your description which leaves it down played in my opinion

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your booking and feedback. We are delighted to hear that you loved the cottage but are sorry that your visit to beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water was disturbed by a biker event. We have updated the description of our property to make it clearer that the stairs between the first and second floor, whilst characteristic of a Grade II listed early 18th century cottage, are a little steep and there is restricted headroom towards the top of the stairs which may make this bedroom unsuitable for those with limited mobility or carrying babies or small children.
