High House Farm is situated in Watermillock, one mile above Ullswater, an idyllic situation surrounded by open fields and with lovely views from the grounds. No longer a working farm, the owner has converted some of the traditional stone buildings into four superb quality self catering cottages. Each cottage is private, not overlooking each other, and all provide ground floor accommodation, oozing quality and character with original features in the structure, beautiful furnishings and excellent en suite facilities. They are perfect for a romantic break or an activity holiday, with secure storage for canoes, bikes, windsurfs etc and livery for horses (for additional fee). Situated in 10 acres of grounds and only one mile from the lake, with walks from the door step, including Aira Force where you can enjoy stunning views to Ullswater along the way. There is a shop at a neighbouring camp site, a pub within one mile and more amenities in Pooley Bridge, three miles. Only a 10 minute drive from the M6 makes High House Farm accessible for short breaks as well as full week holidays.

Living Room: With 32" LCD TV with Sky, DVD and CD radio.
Kitchen Area: With electric oven and gas hob, fridge, washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave. Access to a freezer.
Bedroom 1; With super king size bed which can be split into two singles (please request when booking) and en-suite with shower over bath and toilet.

    We had a wonderful week staying in this gorgeous cottage, so well equipped and cozy. Lesley has thought of everything, even leaveing a bottle of wine and some local fudge (which was delicious) as a welcome gift. The eggs from her farm are great for breakfast and the location is stunning. We stayed with our two sprocker spaniels who had a brilliant time! Our only criticism was that the heating/water pipes do creak pretty loudly and this can be a bit of a pain at night. However most nights we were so tired from long days of walking that it didn't disturb us too much. Everything is is amazing and we would go and stay there again in the future.

    Pro's: Great location for the time of year and very quiet, every utensil required was there. Con's: Bit restrictive regarding pets activity in the property (e.g. pets not allowed to brush up against furniture), I'm not sure a 'pet rules' sign needs to be permanently on display in such a prominent position. After having paid for an extra two hours for cleaning services (at the rate of my cleaner), this is what the extra payment if for surely?

We are sorry you found the pet rules restrictive but they are in line with the cottage company booking conditions -pet policy. To answer your question, the extra charge is for allowing your pet to stay and absolutely not a cleaning charge.
