A bit disappointed that it smelt of pets! I took my two year old toddler, dog hair everywhere and smelt of dog the whole visit. We had to buy fabreze and shake and vac to keep it fresh. Not really what I'd planned for our Christmas break!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am sorry you were disappointed with the cottage. I did point out to you that we do allow pets into Mill House, you maintained that it does not say this on the booking site. I have checked and it is clearly stated that dogs are allowed. My husband checked the cottage before your arrival and did not spot any dog hairs and the cottage, he told me that the cottage did not smell. You did say your little one picked up dog hairs when playing on the carpet with play doh which is very sticky and therefore can pick up anything the hoover may have missed.

The cottage is more of a chalet. And I would'nt think it is for 4, depends on what you like and I would agree that the sofa needs new seating cushions. The cottage is everything you need for a holiday and if you like walking. The kitchen is small but o.k. If you need another work top you can jam the metal hot stand across the sink with the chopping board on it. There are lots of info in the cottage about the area and loads of walks they have printed off for you. There is a farm called Hayles fruit farm where you can pick your own apples and pears off the trees and pay for them in the shop and the Orchard café is fab. If you like walking I'm not too sure if there is a path to it. You can go by road but I suggest you drive slow. The Pheasant pub also does fab meals. You can go into Winchcombe town center (also fab) on foot and to supermarket. Walk down the lane where the pottery is (opposite the cottage lane) and walk behind the bushes (for safety) then turn left at the three ways house then straight down all the way. If your there on a Sunday you should try Rosie's for lunch, wow.

Very convenient Friendly owners. The sofa bed is very uncomfortable otherwise we had everything we required for a short stay.

Very poor furnishings. In need of updating

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. I am a little surprised by this review, the furnishings are accurately shown on the cottages.com website. Indeed, we have repeat customers for this cottage as they like it so much. To be fair furnishings are a matter of taste.

This stable conversion is in a lovely location in the middle of the Cotswolds countryside. Even though the main road is near you can't really hear any traffic noises, so it is very peaceful. I don't know if the other attached lets had guests but we weren't really disturbed if they did. The nearest town is Winchcomb, a five minute drive away. There was milk, tea, sugar & biscuits waiting for us, which was a nice touch and appreciated. The kitchen was well equipped, although I never cooked during our stay. It would have been nice to have had an all purpose cleaner spray to hand, which I could have used on the sink and in the bathroom, but that's a minor thing. The owner also popped across to say hello, and recommend a place to eat. She was very friendly. We visited some nice places inc Sudeley Castle, the local steam railway, and drove down to Weston Super Mare when the sun finally came out. However, the accommodation does seem a bit dated, and is set out in a way that we felt, didn't make the best use of the space. The poor wooden worktops in the kitchen desperately need sanding down and re-oiling. As other guests have said, the sette/bed in the living room is the most uncomfortable I've ever sat on, & should really be replaced. The guttering above the bedroom windows needs fixing, as the torrential rain we had one day was running down the windows and it's obviously this that has rotted the bottoms of both bedroom windows, which need sorting as it looks very unkempt and neglected. The whole patio could have done with a good sweep, and the round patio table & chairs needed a sand down and re-stain/varnish. I know these are only minor things,( & time consuming), but it would look so much better for it! In conclusion, it's a nice enough place for a short stay, but i'm glad we weren't there for a whole week. I think that with a bit of money spent, some imagination & TLC, the owners could make so much more of Mill House.

We used the cottage as a base for a great value short break. The surrounding area is charming and there is plenty to explore. Fortunately we arrived in daylight and the owners information was enough to find the cottage. It would be beneficial to have a sign or name plaque on the approach.

Picturesque setting, quiet lane and car parking, enjoyed seeing the steam trains puffing over the railway bridge 200 yards away. Town centre five minutes away by car; ideal situation for visiting all the delightful villages and towns in the Cotswold region; good restaurant at Guiting Power with an enchanting name!

Good weather made up for the cottage. It was adequate but not up to the standard we've enjoyed in the past. Not very good equipment in the kitchen, the microwave wouldn't work until the owner pushed it around to get it working! The settee was very uncomfortable and the covers needed cleaning. The bedroom/ bed was fine. The heating throughout was good but the hot water in the kitchen and bathroom took SO long to come through that you could walk away for 3-4 minutes before getting any. We loved the area though.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your review, and I am glad the weather was good for your stay with us. In answer to your points raised. The microwave is wired in and for some reason the isolation switch had been turned off, obviously when this was switched back on it worked. The kitchen is well fitted with plenty of pots and pans etc., it is however a small kitchen, but in our view well planned. The hot water comes from the boiler at the other end of the building and does take a while to come through, however the shower is electric. I would point out that the central heating is included in the rent unlike many properties. The covers on the sofa are loose and are regularly washed.
