We where told by the owners that the cottage would be taken off the market and that we where the last people to rent it.

This was a delightful, peaceful place to stay and our hosts could not have been more helpful. The only drawback was lack of internet access but that was about the rural location and our hosts were very helpful in that regard.

We had an enjoyable stay. We did have a couple drawbacks caused by location though : 1) The wi-fi internet connection/signal was sporadic at best which was inconvenient as we had left our son at home on his own and needed to be in touch daily. 2) The length of wood lane and the owner's drive was an issue as the latter was an unmade up road with potholes and was covered in loose stones which were to the detriment of the underside of our recently acquired car and our poor dog's feet. As a consequence we went out only once a day so to limit the effects. Other occupiers had driven 4x4s to the venue and might have known something we did not.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; We would like to thank you for your recent review and take this opportunity if you don’t mind to respond to the issues which you have raised. With regards to your first point regarding the Wi-Fi / Internet connection, the property is not advertised as having Wi-Fi. We provide free use of a 3G dongle in the cottage for our guests out of courtesy and find that most guests are pleasantly surprised to have some access to Wi-Fi which is not expected, and therefore find your comments rather unfair and unjustified. In relation to your comments about Wood Lane, this is an un-adopted highway and therefore is not our responsibility, however periodically we do try and repair potholes. We apologise if this had a negative impact on your stay here. We are surprised, but sorry to hear that your dog suffered when using the lane as many dog walkers in the surrounding area including ourselves, regularly walk our dogs here without any problems. We do also provide a 1 acre paddock where guests can exercise their dogs which may have suited you better. We have subsequently asked Cottages 4 You to amend their description and state that access to this property is via an un-adopted lane. We would like to point out however that Cottages 4 You did not deem this necessary when listing this property and equally, we have a large number of guests who are in awe of the cottage and its surroundings and are keen to return.

The cottage was very good very well equipped and the owners were lovely. The cottage was set in a lovely area but getting to the area was difficult. A very long unmade, potholed road had to be negotiated carefully everytime you arrived or left - not somewhere to forget something and have to return. A sports car would have had real difficulty. We had no complaints about the cottage itself whatsoever.

Warm, cosy, very pleasant cottage, excellent for relaxing in front of log fire. Friendly hosts. Lots of info for Somerset though very little for Dorset when it is virtually on border. Only issue for some may be that in February the long drive was muddy and had to be taken slowly.

We have just had a fabulous week at Stable Cottage. The owners are very friendly and helpful and left a wonderful welcome basket with eggs, milk, fresh bread, scones, clotted cream, jam and apple juice all from the local farm shop which is less than 2 miles away. The cottage had everything you could possibly need and was well equipped in the kitchen which was great as we cooked each evening. The furniture was all very comfortable but the only improvement could be a better mattress on the bed. However the bed would not stop us from going back to the cottage and is the only thing I could complain about. The location is lovely down a quiet lane making the cottage peaceful and quiet with lovely views and yet is only 1.5 miles from the village with it's pub and local farm shop. It is well placed to visit Somerset, Dorset and Devon and we had some lovely days out as well as walking from the house. Would definitely return to the cottage if looking to holiday again there in the future. The photos on the website really do not do this place justice!

The let was off the beaten bumpy track 1.5 miles from the pub. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Well equipped accommodation although the kitchen pans let it down. Log burner was good. Not in Beaminster Dorset though but wasn't an issue for us. Well priced for the week and would use again if visiting family. Ideally located for the coast such as Weymouth and Lyme Regis
