The cottage is situated in an ideal location for exploring the coastline between Scarborough and Whitby. We could see the sea from one of the bedroom windows, and the scenery on the doorstep is beautiful. The coastal Cleveland Way path is within easy reach, with stunning scenery. The cottage was cosy, well equipped and the welcome pack of locally produced sausages, bacon, eggs, and some extras were very welcome. The only reason I have given the local amenities a 9 is because the nearest Pub is literally about half a mile down the road, but because there is no footpath you cannot walk to it. Having said that, it is set in beautiful surroundings, and the food is excellent. The nearest village is only a couple of minutes drive down the road.

The cottage is ideal for 2. Well equipped and the owner certainly didn't scrimp on the quality of the fit out. Very easy to find on the A171. Dogs are permitted, although you are requested not to allow them upstairs which is fair enough and a stair gate is in place to prevent accidents. There is a huge forest opposite which is brilliant for walking. Ravenscar is a 5 minute drive away, with amazing coastal walks. Scarborough and Whitby are appox. 20 minute drive (where the nearest supermarkets are). Loved the location as it is in the middle of nowhere. Lovely owners, on site, but not intrusive created a very relaxed atmosphere.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Easter Weekend break. Only downside was that our dogs had to be kept on their leads in the courtyard. We have already recommended the cottage to some of our dog owner friends.

Another fabulous stay at Wayside. This time we were lucky enough to stay for a week. We never tire of this place. Great location for walks and lovely pubs. The cottage is so cosy and has everything you need. Certainly a lovely place for a couple and dogs too. We will be returning in less than 5 weeks and it won't come quick enough! Thank you :)

Worst cottage we have rented. An acute lack of ventilation especially in the kitchen and shower room. A generator noise keeps you awake if you open the bedroom window. Black mould around window and in sitting room. We felt poorly due to lack of ventilation and came home a day early. Owners have failed to answer my letter of complaint.
