Description

Boasting charm and character, this traditional Welsh barn provides perfect holiday accommodation with plenty to do nearby.

Bwlch Y Person Barns are beautiful conversions of traditions Welsh long barns. Located in a tranquil setting surrounded by rolling countryside, these wonderful properties boast character, charm and all the comforts for the perfect countryside holiday with a resident barn owl in the grounds. Close to the borders of both mid and south Wales, these very comfortable properties provide perfect holiday accommodation. The four cottages, Cartws (ref. OH3), Stabl (ref. OH4), Beudy Bach(ref. OH5) and Beudy (OH2) form a right angle shape with parking in front, with lovely views across the countryside and all have their own terraces with furniture. Families will appreciate the separate recreational area with football posts and nets, picnic bench and table set away from the cottages. For added enjoyment, two of the cottages feature their own private hot tubs. Both Beudy Bach and Beudy have hot tubs at the rear of the cottages on their enclosed patios.
All are ideally placed for exploring the dramatic and truly scenic Ceredigion coastline. The picturesque and colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron is only 6 miles away where there is a selection of interesting independent shops and a great choice of restaurants and eateries including, fish and chips, ice cream parlour and fine dining. The National Trust house and gardens of Llanerchaeron are 4 miles away and from here there’s a delightful level pedestrian country footpath, suitable for bikes, pushchairs or wheelchairs, which leads into Aberaeron. Pretty New Quay with boats bobbing about in the harbour is just a few miles further on, and is definitely worth a visit. You must look out for the resident pods of bottlenose dolphins seen in the bay on an almost daily basis! Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

The cottage was gorgeously presented and was incredibly spacious- our daughters loved having upstairs to themselves. A couple of things let it down though- the chairs, and to a lesser extent the settees, are not designed for sitting in and left us with backache after an indoor day - and the hob was complicated to work. The other thing to note is that the WiFi is okay, but not brilliant. That’s more location than anything else, but is worth thinking about if your wet weather plans involve the Internet!

We stayed here while doing the Ceredigion Coastal Path; using the cottage as a base. It was lovely and clean; and very welcoming after a long day walking. Loads of hot water, loved the underfloor heating, bed extremely comfortable. There was a very generous welcome pack with lots of locally sourced goodies. The owners, Alan and Wynne, were very friendly and helpful (they were called out to the neighbouring cottage as the guests were trying to get into the wrong cottage! and couldn't understand why the access code didn't work!). It is very tranquil there - we heard barn and tawny owls and saw kites on a daily basis. One night was crystal clear and the Milky Way was clearly visible above. We took our dog. There isn't an enclosed garden which may be an issue for some but as we were walking 15 miles a day all he wanted to do when he got back to the cottage was sleep! But there is a good sized mown field with benches just ten metres away from the cottage door where you can let your dog run. The kitchen is very well equipped; including dishwasher with tablets and a clothes washer/dryer should you need it. Even an iron and ironing board!!!

This is a beautiful property, modern and well finished. We stayed for a week with one set of grandparents. The layout was ideal, meaning they could sleep downstairs, with their own bathroom, while the rest of us were upstairs. It's about 15 mins drive to the beach at New Quay, with other gorgeous bays just slightly further on to the south. Nearest shop, pub, petrol and Post Office are 2 miles away, on the Lampeter road. The pub's food was very good quality and value; the shop has a good range but a little pricy. Nearest proper supermarkets (depending on your arrival direction) are Sainsbury's in Lampeter, Morrisons in Aberystwyth or Tesco in Cardigan. Back to Stabl... Beds are comfortable (maybe could do with tightening up as our frame creaked a bit); bathrooms excellent with powerful showers; lounge spacious - sofas a little hard and a shame the TV doesn't swing out from the wall a bit more; kitchen generally well equipped and spacious. There is wifi, but only expect email and basic web browsing - you certainly can't download or stream anything. This isn't a fault of the property itself, just a function of its location. O2 and EE reception are both non existent for data and patchy for speech. Don't know about Vodafone or Three. Finally the field adjacent to the cottages is excellent to allow the children to unwind safely. It has a couple of football nets and is big enough for cricket, rounders, frisbee etc. We all had a wonderful stay - the cottage is highly recommended and the owners are very friendly abd attentive. Thank you.

A beautifully equipped cottage - had everything I needed to make Christmas dinner for 9 people (cutlery etc for 6) The bedroom on the ground floor and shower-room were perfect for my mum who has difficulty walking. Has its own playing field which is great for football etc and giving the dog a quick run. Great to have such a lovely cottage that is dog friendly. Chairs / sofas in the lounge not especially comfortable so not great for just chilling out. Owners lovely and had made a real effort to make our stay special - Christmas decorations and some delicious edible treats. :-)
