Built in 1899 and converted into a stylish home, this detached property offers a great space for a group or family holiday and features a 25ft stained glass window in the living room. There is much to see and do in the surrounding areas; Afan Argoed Forestry Park is excellent for mountain biking and has been rated in the top ten of the world for mountain bike rides. The stunning Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains offer breathtaking scenery and fabulous walking, and there are several waterfalls within a 15-minute walk. Margam Country Park is well worth a visit, with its castle, 18th-century orangery, narrow gauge railway, deer, Fairytale Land and Go Ape tree top adventure. Visit Dan yr Ogof Showcaves which also offer wedding ceremonies. Quad biking, archery and paintballing can all be found in the surrounding areas, along with fishing, golf and horse riding. Slightly further afield is the stunning Gower Peninsula, Britain’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with beautiful expanses of sandy beaches, hidden coves and coastal walks. Brecon, Swansea and Cardiff, the bustling capital city, are within approximately a 45-minute drive. Shop 50 yards, pub 250 yards, restaurant 1 mile.

    Overall a pleasant stay. Fridge is small for the size of the church perhaps there could be a extra fridge in utility room. No BBQ, this was not a problem but it did say there was one. Water pressure not good for showers. These are not complaints but observations.

    We were pleased with the actual house - but the grounds were overgrown when we arrived on Friday and the owner was not able to get them cut down until Tuesday so we were unable to use the outside facilities. Also there was rubbish and bottles left outside and bins were left unemptied and were full of maggots. this was a great shame as we really liked the house and the space and facilities inside. Also the water pressure was a problem and we were not able to have baths / showers / dishwasher going at the same time as there was not enough pressure - so a pump would be a good thing to install to improve the water pressure. But overall it was a lovely property and the drawbacks, I believe, were where people had let the owner down.

    Response on behalf of the owner; We have recently employed new gardeners who visit the property 2 times a month. Due to the council changing their collections to 'every other week' we supply 4 large bins with lids for the guests, some guests leave the lids off which is why they get to heavy or dirty to empty or carry to the gate. Which is why we have a maintenance manager collecting them every week. As the property is situated in a low pressure area we have added a pump to the boiler which has helped but still not enough to have everything running.

    The chapel has masses of space for large parties. The large kitchen complete with pool table was a great hit. Cleanliness was ok but could do with a bit more attention to detail and beds a bit jelly like. However overall good value for money given the large size and number of bathrooms. Treherbert itself is a little run down and limited but very soon you can be up on the hills and there is a lovely walk to the waterfalls.

    A lovely conversion retaining the exterior whilst making the interior modern and stylish. Had some doubts about the heating which took one night to warm the place properly, but was then fine throughout. Space for all inside and apart from some minor things(which anybody can find anywhere), if this is the area you want to explore, great.

    Response on behalf of the owner; Due to there being underfloor heating on both levels it is important that the set back dials are not touched, and when previous guests mess about with them it does take 24 - 48 hours to calibrate the large property.

    A beautiful cottage and ideal for our purposes. Minor gripes below purely to be constructive. Nothing that would stop us staying again. 1. Very cold - we unfortunately hit a cold snap and spent much of the weekend indoors still with our coats on. Would happily have paid for additional heating to supplement the underfloor. 2. Great equipment, kitchen etc. but we had to work out by trial and error how the appliances worked. A brief guide would have helped. (We never did work out how to turn on the shower in the main en-suite. 3. Alternative seating ion the lounge. We carried chairs through from the dining room to save 10 of us just sitting in a row. A couple of separate chairs would be ideal.

We have supplied a book with all instructions how to use the equipment - the en-suite shower has a pull or push lever? The very large sofa seats 8 and the extra softer sofa seat 3 comfortably.

    Really lovely church but some of T.L.C needs to be done, lots of little repairs to make it perfect

    Overall, this house was really good value for money; it is spacious and has some good features. There were some small disappointments: kitchen knives were not much in evidence - I had to buy a bread knife; if more than one tap was is use, water was intermittant; the large rip in one of the sofa cushions. These would not stop us returning, but they did stop this house from being exceptional.

    Response on behalf of the owner; This is the 1st review which mentions the need for extra cutlery, we have supplied a lot of sharp knives and plenty of other cutlery that gets replenished regularly.

    This property definitely has the wow factor and we would definitely be keen to return again. It is in a great location both for local walks and for visiting the Brecon Beacons, Cardiff and the Swansea area. However, there were some issues which need attention - in particular we found the water pressure was inadequate to allow the use of more than one shower at any one time and some of the crockery was damaged and needs replacing. I think that if we were a party of 10 then we would have struggled to self-cater during our stay. Some of the mattresses seem to be nearing their use by date.

    Not clean, human & animal hair every where, rubbish in the entrance.

    Response on behalf of the owner; Our cleaners cleaned from the time the previous guests left which was a little later than planned 11am and cleaned right up to the booking at 3pm, the bags were left in the porch area for the maintenance crew to collect the same day. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but as you can see from the majority of reviews the cleaning scores well.
