    Neum Crag is a fine, secluded location wonderfully situated for walking and enjoying the tranquillity of the lake District. There is an office which has local walking maps although opening times are indeterminable. The accommodation is compact, comfortable, clean and well equipped . The only down side was that there was a problem with damp and mustiness particularly in the bedroom. It would have benefited from and electric dehumidifier . The bedroom window was a patio door which meant that you might not want to leave it open overnight as you would with a normal window. One of the storage heaters in the lounge did not appear to be working and the bathroom heater seemed to function intermittently. Had it been really unpleasant cold weather this could have been a problem.

    Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your Reevoo, we note your concerns which are taken seriously, may we respond to each-The Office is not run by us, and we have no control I'm afraid over the opening hours. I will however pass your comment on.We cannot accept that the property is damp. We personally attend Squirrels to check on any maintenance issues at least once a month, often more frequently, and actually attended on your departure date. We certainly saw no issues in relation to damp or indeed mustiness.Mustiness can often be caused by lack of proper ventilation, both the kitchen and bathroom windows can be positioned in such a way as to be secure and allow ventilation at the same time. As to the bedroom doors, these are sliding doors, vents above the doors are best left open and I'm sure would have addressed any issues.Taking your comment seriously, we have left a dehumidifier at Squirrels which we are happy for all guests to use should they feel the need.As to the storage heaters, when we attended one of the heaters was simply switched off at the socket. All are working fine.The bathroom heater is controlled by a timer. This is easily adjusted although may account for why you thought it was only working intermittently.We should make the point that in addition to the storage heaters and the bathroom heater there is a separate independent electric fire in the lounge and independent electric wall mounted heater in the bedroom. Squirrels is never cold."

    Great setting and looks good on the pictures. It has a number of well documented issues that have not been addressed by the owners. These are: bad smell on entering; the apartment was cold with no heating despite it being late December; paying the xmas/new year premium yet no sign of any festive decoration; the outside door would not stay closed unless it was locked; patio doors impossible to open; no heating in the bathroom as the heater was broken and had been for quite a long time reading the reviews after our stay. The bed was comfortable and we were able to warm the place up but it was pot luck as the storage heater controls appeared to have little effect/no marking on;cheap tin patio furniture that was noisy in the rain. Would think carefully about hiring from solicitors again.

    Lovely location which we visit annually. Apartment was warm, comfortable, well furnished and suitable for our walking holiday. However, it was disappointing that minor issues were not being resolved over a long period as was evidenced in the visitors book. For example, heated towel rail in bathroom wasn't working and, at times, an overpowering odour due to longstanding condensation problems, particularly in the bedroom. The catch on the front door was worn and so only was of keeping front door closed was by using the key.

    Excellent location, excellent view from the back. Well equipped but scored low for comfort - the bedroom had what appeared to be a damp problem, resulting in an overpowering smell which was at times unbearable when trying to sleep. The bathroom had no heating, which made showering very cold, and very poor privacy due to a see through blind that served no real function. There were some 'broken' items which they were obviously aware of based on the notes left around the property (French doors sticking, kitchen tap not working) a shame they haven't been more proactive in resolving them as the comments in the guest book go back across 2 yrs for some of them (French doors, towel rail). A little bit of tlc needed before I would return to this particular property.
