Description

Cyclists and walkers will be in their element during their stay amidst some beautiful Yorkshire countryside, with routes aplenty from the doorstep.

Squirrel Hill Cottage (ref UKC1959), Squirrel Hill Farm (ref UKC1960) and Squirrel Court (ref UKC2731) can be found tucked away on the edge of Thornton, a village best known as being the birthplace of the Brontë sisters. In a secluded location surrounded by stunning gardens and beautiful west Yorkshire countryside, and within the grounds of the owner’s home, the views are far reaching with magnificent sunrise and sunsets a regular treat. Located on the Brontë Way long distance footpath, ample walking is available straight from the door, perfect to help you appreciate the natural beauty of the countryside, so important to the Brontë heritage. Thornton Viaduct is around 1½ miles from Squirrel Hill and is a Grade II listed structure dating back to 1878, and offers spectacular views over the Pinch Beck Valley.
Wonderful Haworth is around 15 minutes away and is home to both the Brontë Parsonage Museum and also the Keighley and Worth Valley Steam Railway, recognisable from its prominence in the classic film ’The Railway Children’. The city of Bradford and large Calderdale town of Halifax are also around 15 minutes away, and offer ample opportunities to eat, drink and shop. Other local attractions include Ogden Water Park, 5 minutes away, and Eureka! The National Children’s Museum and Shibden Hall and Estate, both a 15-minute drive. Many film locations are in the surrounding area for ’Emmerdale’, ’Last Tango in Halifax’ and ’Last of the Summer Wine’. For those wanting to bring bikes, Squirrel Hill is just a stone’s throw from the route of the Tour De Yorkshire. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
Squirrel Hill Cottage (ref UKC1959), Squirrel Hill Farm (ref UKC1960) and Squirrel Court (ref UKC2731) can be booked together to accommodate up to 19 guests.
